It is a truism to say that a soldier should not obey a blatantly illegal order. The more pertinent question, which no one seems eager to address, is whether the orders directing the “lethal kinetic strikes” against civilians, in peacetime, were, or were not, “illegal,” (blatantly or otherwise).
