I’ve lived 54 years without committing fraud, embezzlement, perjury, pedophilia, trafficking, insider stock grift, bribery or infidelity. This is a notable achievement no politician has yet managed, and I think I deserve some financial rewards comparable to what they all get.

As anyone who has ever worked knows, if you want to waste a lot of time and not actually accomplish anything, form a committee and have meetings. And what is Congress but a big, useless committee?

It’s actually impressive how there isn’t a single person in the entire MAGAsphere who isn’t a mindbogglingly incompetent, venal, rage-fueled moron with a 50 IQ. Every time there’s another Cabinet change, it’s someone even more unbelievably insane than before. Is there some factory, somewhere?

Never has it become so obviously imperative that we, as individuals, make every effort to be smarter, more aware, more skeptical, more willing to discard traditions and behaviors that are outdated and harmful. Nobody is going to make anything easier out of kindness or ethics. It’s up to US.

While I don’t deny that oppression, hardship and victimhood exist, most of what I see are people who make dumbass behavior choices that make their lives far more difficult than necessary, while angrily insisting that a mysterious other “someone else” purposely made them struggle.

I hate the way people “debate” these days. “Diversity is great!” “Ok, how and why? How do we measure this? What are the pros and cons?” “What?! You’re just a racist asshole!” And that’s where any discussion just ends. This is what passes for mature conversation, now, and why we are SO screwed.

There’s not much to admire about the Regime, but I admit to some jealousy of their commitment and tenacity. When stopped, they power on with another idea. Significant, history-altering events are happening daily, whereas the few periods when the Dems had power, they couldn’t organize a bake sale.

What used to be accepted as basic standards have now become exuberantly praised achievements.

“Going after” the money of the wealthy is all well and good, and most people feel the wealthy have skipped out on their fair duty for a long time. There’s just no confidence that it would be intelligently, usefully spent of anything that regular people want it spent on, rather than more war and BS.

Do you realize just how easy and effective politics and leadership would be if (1) we only elected/appointed knowledgeable experts into positions of power, and (2) of everyone would just fucking be HONEST, no matter how inconvenient or distasteful it may be? We make this WAY harder than necessary.

There’s a huge difference between regulating to achieve equal opportunity vs trying to artificially engineer equal results. Even with perfect opportunities and the whole of society committed to fairness, humans will always be variable in outcomes. Be careful to define the goals and efforts.

I have a pretty good grasp on most issues, but immigration remains so sticky and unresolvable to me, because BOTH sides of it are correct and passionate in their arguments.

You don’t really need subjective beliefs if you care about and honestly pursue facts.

It’s weird that some people will claim 2% ancestry from a region where their ancestors migrated through there for just one generation (if it was even a “country”, then), while others have families in America for 150 years and still hyphenate identity to somewhere else. At some point, who cares?

Education, Economy, Healthcare, Environment & Infrastructure. Everything else is a side quest. Most of the social problems, inequalities and struggles we continually face would be greatly reduced if we focused efforts on those Big Five, where Dems typically have better ideas. Diseases vs Symptoms

I often criticize the Left, NOT because I agree with conservatives at all, but because I still hold out hope that the Modern Social Left will remember that they used to champion rationality, ruthlessly rigorous education integrity, and fight emotionally driven social ideology as dangerous paths.

I think all these MAGA (supposedly) rejecting Trumpism to be rather amusing. Finally admitting what everyone knew about him a decade ago. That Trump FINALLY did something they can’t rationalize away. These people will vote GOP again this year, sure as shit. They don’t change, I don’t believe it.

There’s a whole generation of kids who are going to grow up thinking all of this is normal. That putting zealous ideologues with no experience or expertise into positions of influence and power is acceptable, and they will decide that NOTHING can be trusted or believed.

to all candidate hopefuls... the senate and the house of representatives aren't entry level positions. please run for local/state positions, get elected, and get government experience FIRST.

Politics is the art of convincing people that an emotional/ego satisfying solution to problems is preferable to the optimal one. Problems almost never get solved, because people rarely agree on what a satisfactory solution is. It’s not like we DON’T know what works, by now, we just don’t LIKE it.

A few million inbred hillbillies greatly prefer keeping the immigration issue centered around race and origin rather than usefulness and productivity.

Generally, I avoid opining on social, cultural stuff. I’m generally skeptical that even more laws can “make” people not be assholes to each other.
