The thing that I mourn most about living in this era, having come of age in the late ‘70s-‘80s, is the loss of humor. Everyone is so careful not to “hurt” anyone and nobody can just let it rip. When we can’t even laugh at ourselves and our absurdities, we lose a lot of our humanity.

Do you believe that some people or organizations are so defined by their cause, struggle or victimhood that they don’t actually WANT to solve or cure it, because then they would lose their purpose or identity? Perhaps seemingly making purposeful decisions that guarantee continuing the issue?

America will never elect a GenX President because D.C. runs on drama and bullshit, and an Xer would disrupt everything by fixing all the dysfunction and grift in a week, while pissing everyone off with sarcasm, crude humor and calling everyone a spaz and a retard in official briefings.

Might piss people off, here, but you can’t be angry at spaghetti western use of Italians as Indians or Mickey Rooney’s role in Breakfast at Tiffany’s, then give a pass to this new Odyssey film. Either we value integrity and honor cultural veracity in our media or let everything just be a joke.

Work life can be a little perilous for me. I have a very typically GenX male sense of humor, and am offended by absolutely nothing, and I find almost everything funny and mockable. Sometimes it’s a bit of a struggle to not let the thoughts out.

Years ago, scientists realized that high achieving people tend to have high self esteem. So naturally, education experts concluded that if we pump the kids full of self esteem, surely high achievement will follow. The changes in American education theory have worked out wonderfully for society.

This right here is how self-sabotaging pride and protectionism is killing real competition and progress, and why our brand of “capitalism” is failing. From gerrymandering to grade inflation, we can’t handle actually fair and free competition because we can’t handle losing.

The way the DEM Establishment is pissed off at Mamdani just confirms what we already know: Dems love talking a big game but are ultimately devoted to preserving the status quo. True, they generally don’t make things worse, but they haven’t proposed anything particularly innovative in decades.

People understand how messed up everything is, and how order is failing and that that are too many people unprepared for what harsh life demands. But whenever I suggest a remedy of raising the standards and expectations, people scream that would be mean and unjust and people might suddenly fail…

I think undoing the massive damage the Trump Admin has done to our nation is still possible. I just don’t think the current crop of “leaders” in the Dem Party are up to the task, even if they could agree and support each other on a damn thing.

To paraphrase a famous 60 Minutes interview of Morgan Freeman, the way to eliminate racism is to ignore it. Treat nobody special except for what they’ve accomplished. By making special identity designations, it just keeps all this obsessive categorization going, doesn’t it? Am I just out of line?

As insanely bad and toxic as the GOP/MAGA brand is, every race is always 51-49, always a nailbiter. It’s fair to ask “why?” Why do 40% of the voters not trust the Left/Dems/Progressives with power? Why has it been very easy to characterize the Dems as goofy or incapable, etc? What needs to change?

With this SCOTUS, the BEST we can hope for is they will occasionally just hold the status quo line. Most of the time, they just rubber stamp overturning everything they are told to. There’s a LOT of regret on the Left for not recognizing the few opportunities there were to stack or expanding it.

There’s nothing admirable about anything they are doing, of course. But DAMN I am so envious of their strategic positioning, their ability to keep the organization consistent, keep the entire nation on the defensive, the unity of purpose and effectiveness. They are evil, but they just dominate.

I think it’s certainly fair to consider the disgusting actions of these pedo Christian pastors and youth leaders as accurately reflective of Christian values. The silence from that community is notable, isn’t it? Not exactly fighting the stereotype. Therefore, I take their identity at their word.

I am so thankful for those vote summary graphics on C-SPAN. In all the talking head spinning, analysis, social storms and gaslighting nonsense, it’s so nice to just have the bottom line facts about where our representatives stand. Example:

Jimmy Kimmel shouldn’t be worried. MAGA doesn’t watch his show, even if they managed to correctly operate the buttons on the remote to tune in.

Maybe society telling everyone that they should never feel embarrassment or shame about anything they ever do, has backfired on us just a little bit? Perhaps a trend towards humility and self-awareness could be a welcome change?

I don’t think politics, business or life in general is actually that hard of complicated. It’s all priorities. And I think many people purposefully MAKE things more complicated than necessary to hide their real priorities, or perhaps just resistance to change their inertia.

I watch a lot of instagram (yeah, I know it’s mindlessly stupid scrolling…) What’s interesting is that most of what the Right makes fun of as idiotic and insane, most of the Left ALSO thinks is ridiculous. But, I almost never see conservatives defending the stupid on the Right. Total silence.

If you think “Well, I’m too smart and savvy to fall for that nonsense!” Guess what? You are EXACTLY who they most want to prey on, because you’ll be way too embarrassed to admit you were duped. The really stupid are far less lucrative.

The people in this Administration are some of the dumbest people in our society, true, BUT considering they somehow convinced America to entrust them with 100% of the government power, what does that say about US? We can’t just absolve ourselves of this blame, and we need to rectify this future.

They always say it’s good to set standards, but then get really defensive and angry when you set them higher than they do.

Trump’s 30% approval rate is roughly the same percentage of all registered voters who voted for him, so I just assume they ALL have zero regrets and love the chaos their approval earned. I don’t buy the supposed regret I hear.

We are in an era where you can look like a fool, act like a fool, and speak like a fool, yet it’s impolite and unacceptable to actually be called out as a fool.

NOW is the time for Dems to fight the “both sides are bad” narrative with everything they’ve got. Every vote, every speech, every candidate needs to be coordinated, on message, uncompromising and beyond reproach. No skeletons, no turncoats, no “bipartisanship”, no misspeaking, no empty gestures.
