Calling a commemoration of the Stonewall uprising an “act of violence” & “indoctrination” is like calling Rosa Parks & the Montgomery Bus Boycott an act of transit terrorism. It deliberately strips away the context: who was being targeted, who held the power, and why people finally said “enough.”

Summer’s still swinging here in Northern California, so we harvested the bounty of the farmers market and made toasted heirloom tomato sammiches for dinner: Bernal Bakery sourdough + kewpie mayo mixed with laksa paste (another Chef @jonkung.bsky.social idea). Sweet, spicy, perfect. Transcendent. 🌞🍅

Chef @jonkung.bsky.social dropped a bowl of miso-corn noodle heaven that wrecked my taste buds… and then wrecked the kitchen. 🌽🍜 Holy shit Chef, spectacular broth AND spectacular dishwashing chaos. Worth every slurp, and worth every scrub. 👏🔥

We’ve made the executive decision to leave our holiday lights up indefinitely as a home remedy to add some degree of joy to these very dark days.

Abandoned thoughts of doom for a few hours today and focused my energy and hope into a new batch of Chef @jonkung.bsky.social’s fragrant chili oil. Loads of Sichuan peppercorns but also used Aleppo chili flakes. So much mala goodness just in time for Lunar New Year!

Auschwitz was at the end of a long process. It did not start from gas chambers. This hatred was gradually developed by humans. From ideas, words, stereotypes & prejudice through legal exclusion, dehumanization & escalating violence... to systematic and industrial murder. Auschwitz took time.
