This is part of an ongoing debate: Will we be able to make AI that generates accurate information? Some say inaccuracy is a feature of how generative AI is built, given it is outputting the statistically most likely content based on its training data. Others say hallucinations are just a phase.

When my former colleagues, journalists who work in breaking news, ask me whether they should be vibe coding, I say no. I tell them that they don't have the time and skills you need. I tell them that there are people out there trying to make money from selling an unrealistic dream.

I think some of the disconnect we have when people who aren't journalists make tools for journalists is that when they look at their job they assume they must have certain problems without taking into account their personality. Journalists I know LOVE scraping about working out what the context is.
