FYI, by RAW, 2024 #dnd has now made it a definite rule that a Lightning Bolt spell can affect two side by side rows of squares on the grid, due to all AoE's starting points being a corner of a square. It's a 5' line that affects two rows of squares on the grid.

I'm creating a gang of weresharks for my Iomandra game, and man, the lycanthrope rules in #dnd 2024 are... bland. Feels like the game assumes players and DMs can't handle lycanthropy, so it just took it away. Boring.

The new Forgotten Realms books will include "a new approach to magic", according to game informer. Very curious to see what that is. #dnd #rpg

One of the big complaints about the forgotten realms has been the many NPC's in it that outshine the player characters. They sort of got away from that over the past decade, so creating a player themed book with a bunch of setting NPC's on the cover is certainly a choice.

I consider the 2024 MM mostly a missed opportunity. Could have been a lot better. Stat blocks are an improvement. But there are strange choices made in it.

Hi! Bunch of new followers on here in the past two days. I guess a lot of you are coming from twitter? Odd, I haven't posted much here, but I guess I will. :)

Been thinking of something called Destiny Boons for PCs, which kinda-sorta mimics 4e Epic Destiny. At some point in heroic tier, each player comes up with their PCs destiny, their goal. It does not have to be at CharGen, they may want to see the world they'll play in first...

But is there anything in 2024 dnd that makes dMing easier, more fun, or a must-do! What is the selling point for DMs to switch? Tougher monsters might be one. What else? Why should a DM take the lead and switch for their group?

Last night's Star Wars session was one of the funnest nights I've had game mastering in a long time. We had everything--cool fights, great role-play, awesome character moments. Really great session.

Yeah yeah I know it's an unpopular take but… I really don't like that alternate cover for the new players handbook.

So I am building my players a surprise physical prop, their own ship for an upcoming SW campaign I'm gonna run. It's a mix of 3d printed parts, old Kenner parts, and foam core.

Received my Hero Forge mini. Super happy with it.

I made twitter very angry this morning. Oh well. My players DO suck. And I can say as much because we've all been friends over 30+ years. 😂

Seeing tokens on a map slide around like a 4e battlemap does not scream "Cinematic!" to me. Not gonna lie. 
If they figured out how to avoid combat slogs while staying tactical god bless 'em.
