Finding Vivian Maier is a documentary that uncovers the mysterious life of Vivian Maier, a reclusive nanny whose extraordinary street photography was discovered only after her death.

Walked to the pub through the woods, aiming to return while still light. Failed. Woods by moonlight are fantastic. Pros: See the familiar woods in a whole new way. Cons: Trip up a lot. May be abducted by fairies.

Today's watergram/luminogram. Finally looking like I planned.

I was photographing dance at a school this week. Although exhausting, it was also uplifting. The teachers had endless patients, and you could see how much the kids got out of it, learning teamwork, problem solving, and using their imagination. I felt privileged to document it.

More mixed watergram and luminograms. Using a curved mask, so there is a bit of both in the middle. Using a wet mask damaged this one, and it's tricky getting both sides a similar density. Trial and error. Make lots, as usual.

Currently, on Google Maps, the aerial view of my area was photographed while covered in snow. It's a joy to look round it, and some of it has late afternoon long shadows, too.

I'm rubbish at writing sentences and paragraphs, but I like words. Some favorites are susserus, shivelight, liminality. What do others like?

Today's discovery: The quibble. In computing, a byte is (usually) 8 bits. 4 bits is referred to as a nibble. A collection of four nibbles, is a quad-nibble, or, a quibble.

What is the little buzz you feel on your fingertips, when you run your fingers over the metal surface of a Mac laptop, when it's plugged into power?

A thought on the spotify wrapped posts, I don' use spotify, but also, I don't go down a rabbit hole of individual musicians, it's more styles of music that spans many artists. At the moment it's offshoots of folk, but I'm sure it'll change.

This is a little audio player I built. It's going to be fitted inside a conch shell, which will be crafted by the Enter Edem folk. It will be telling tales of the undersea world for a show called Aquanauts.

Yesterday, I was teaching alternative photography in a school. It struck me how engaged, curious and playful the students were. Gives me hope for the future.

I'm building an electronic art project called Akiniscope. That's a word I made up. Here's a video of the prototype build. It even has a website: akiniscope.com
