That being said, I do think the Freedom Motif means something NOW. The fact he did finally add it to Hammer of Justice, to me, says that Toby saw the fan reaction to the motif and decided to actually give it a deeper purpose. #deltarune

My evidence for this is the fact it wasn't included in an earlier rendition of Hammer of Justice, which is virtually unchanged from the final version. Toby Fox has also commented at length about how the fandom has different context for the songs he makes. #deltarune

My Deltarune hot take is that the "Freedom Motif" probably didn't mean anything until the fandom looked too deep into it. It was probably just included in Spamtons theme as a reference to Jevil, because the both of them were secret bosses. #deltarune
