Lydia is getting more relaxed all the time, though she still likes to curl up in a secret hidey hole for hours at a time. If she hears me working in the studio, she wants to get all up in my business. I sure do love this beautiful girl.

I brought home a new cat from the shelter. Her project for the first few days has been to find every possible secret hiding place until she felt safe and secure. She's really good at hiding. I determined her name is Lydia.

America needs leopard journalists now. Journalists dedicated to showing Trump voters that the leopard always eats your face even when he promises not to. The amount of staggering, life-altering pain Trump voters will have to experience to wean themselves off him is extraordinary. But it's coming.

Of course there should still be protests, but I think they need to be planned carefully with a very clear idea of what they can and cannot accomplish and what they will or will not accomplish. Organizing and creating alternative communication channels is probably much more important than marching.

And in terms of how best to fight, it almost becomes a matter of determining which fora still exist in which a fight can happen. Courts are likely to be one of the few places. Congress will not investigate anything if it is run entirely by Republicans. I am seeing less and less what protests can do.

I think the key is figuring out what can be fought and how to best fight what can be fought and then, yes, let the rest wash over the United States and hopefully heal it like a fever eventually does. In deciding where to fight the question obviously lands on protecting the largest number of people.
