PACT is meeting in Le Havre! From September 25th - 27th members of PACT, experts, and researchers are meeting for a conference and workshop. 'Ports & Cities & Territories: Frameworks for an Inclusive Energy Transition' is organized by Working Group 1 (Silvia Sivo and Thanos Pallis).

Happy Monday! This is the last week of our counter-mapping challenge: Did you visit a port city territory during the summer, are you living or working in one and would like to reflect on this very particular space?

Do you know Tama river? "Tama river flows from the Chichibu Mountains to Tokyo Bay, providing about 20% of Tokyo’s water and supporting hydropower" explains Yuanpeng Hou. With his counter-map Hou visualizes the effects of people's use of the river on its fish population.

What does it feel like to move to a port city? Mikaela Rands mapped her 1st year living in Seattle for our counter-mapping challenge!

"This counter-map challenges the dominant cartographic logic that treats port cities as neutral logistical nodes. Instead, it tells a spatial story of tension between nature and infrastructure, between bird song and diesel engines, between conservation and capital."
