Today, parish churches across Ireland are helping the Polish community celebrate our Easter traditions. On Easter Saturday, Poles bring baskets of Easter food for blessing. Each basket should have eggs, bread, salt, horseradish, sausage/bacon, Easter cake 'Babka', and a sugar lamb.

Last week we meet with the Marshal of the Polish Senate Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska. We introduced her to our mission of building a modern diaspora organisation committed to protecting the interests of Poles living in Ireland and facilitating civic engagement of our community.

Another ESRI report found that migrant workers from Eastern Europe earn 20%-40% less than Irish workers for the same jobs. If migrant workers use the Irish social welfare system is due to discriminatory pay gap, not a lifestyle choices as some claim.

We are still to see efforts to include the Polish community in Irish political processes. We could starts from including Polish and other Eastern European migrants in migrant political participation projects. So far we were excluded due to funding restrictions.

Happy Christmas to members of the Orthodox Church who celebrate today Christmas Eve. In Poland over 500,000 people (~1%) are followers of the Orthodox faith and many of them became members of the Polish Diaspora in Ireland.

Last week we visited Warsaw and the Polish Senate to discuss strategies for engagement with the Polish Diaspora including improving electoral participation for Polish citizens living abroad in Polis elections.
