Today, at the last day of the 2025 Session of the CCW GGE on Lethal Autonomous Weapon Systems (LAWS), Brazil delivered a statement on behalf of 42 States, co-drafted with Ireland, Norway and Switzerland.

Ambassador Frederico Meyer is chairing the 6th Session of the Working Group on the Strengthening of the Biological Weapons Convention (11–22 August, Geneva).

Yesterday UNODA conducted the first round of consultations on the possible convening of a group of scientific and technical experts on nuclear disarmament verification (GSTE-NDV), pursuant to the mandate given by UNGA resolution 79/240, submitted by Brazil and Norway.

The Delegation of Brazil to the CD is glad to participate in the productive discussions of the Working Groups of the Arms Trade Treaty (ATT), which are taking place in Geneva this week.

Last week, @brazilgvadisarm.bsky.social participated in a much-welcome discussion on the "Future of Biological Weapons" at the @ec.europa.eu Non-Proliferation and Disarmament Conference in Brussels. Diplomacy and science must work in tandem to navigate the complex challenges of verification.

The Delegation of Brazil to the CD participated in the 23rd ROK-UN Joint Conference on Disarmament and Non-Proliferation, in Seoul, with the theme "The BWC at Fifty". Excellent discussion on possibilities for strenghtening the BWC against current and future threats. The time for action is now.
