My first contemporary romance read and it definitely surprised me. ✨ There was a much bigger story and message outside of the romance. ✨ Our FMC grew and changed throughout the course of the story, in a journey of self discovery. ✨ The social commentary on the Hollywood socialites scene.

This book has Anne Rice The Vampire Lestat / Queen of the Damned vibes with its mix of paranormal and Egyptian mythology. I enjoyed the Egyptian mythology woven throughout the story, possessions, bonded trio, different timelines and how they converge, and the choice to include full violence.

Serenade of Kings by Christine E Schulze What we enjoyed: Music magic: The detail of the ways it could be utilised was charming. Court politics: Even when we wanted to scream in frustration. The handling of difficult content: it had the weight, depth, respect and dignity it needed.
