He’d never have got through all the things his father did to him if he hadn’t been able to escape reality . .

Seriously? That’s the choice? ‘Face the things that keep you up at night, prince; or I won’t bother with you?’ That’s not fair! He’s seen the panic attacks his father has caused. Don’t push him to do something that will make them worse…

He can’t help being tired of feeling . .

He says that like it’s so easy, he’s not ready to face his trauma…

Name one thing that will help more than they do, he’ll wait.

Isn’t he? The trauma and panic attacks aren’t going to go away just because he left his father’s house..

Why does everyone blame him for that after all his father has put him through? All the trauma he’s suffered his entire life? He doubts anyone who’s been through what he has would handle it any differently…

He is grown up . .

But he has one that lets him forget things…

He has an escape from life, surely?

Everyone needs an escape now and again . .

And if he wants to be numb to escape once in a while?

He wants more than anything to be selfish but he’s got a lot on his shoulders . .

They did say that, but he doesn’t want to be ungrateful . .

He needs to feel numb . .

The guilt is eating him up . .

“I wouldn’t stop you.” he responded as he rolled onto his back to look at her.

His eyes were closed but he was still awake and he couldn’t stop himself from leaning into her touch. “If you met him, you’d understand how addictive he is . .”

Thankful that she didn’t close the door because that would have set off his panic attacks, he changed into his pyjamas and laid down on the bed. “Honouring the contract means giving him up…” He said with a sigh before he rolled onto his side to try and sleep.

Making his way up to her room, he kicked his shoes off and went to get a set of his pyjamas.

“Sticking to the contract.” He responded as he took her back inside.

Shaking his head, he stood up and moved to grab his wrist. “No, I’ll do the honourable thing…”

“Have to do the right thing and honour the contract . .” He said with a small sigh.

“I don’t want to give either of you up..” He responded quietly.

“Then don’t tell him, we can make this work . .” He mumbled, hoping to convince her.

“I expected you’d say that.” He nodded, bringing his head down onto his knees.

“This hasn’t changed how I feel about you.” He pointed out, staring at the ground. “I just want both of you…”

Nodding silently because he knew she’d figured it out. “I can’t be in small spaces now, because of my father . .”

“I… I was with Julian. He helped me get out after my father kicked him out. But I’ve been having panic attacks since..”

“My father locked me in my bedroom . .” He started to say, but he was afraid to admit why.

He’s sitting on the porch, fingers anxiously tapping the wood.

Can she come outside?
