Drove past a nearly finished Solar Farm near Stockton today, realised when I looked at my photos when I got home that it is just off the route we took on a climate march to COP in Glasgow back in 2021.

Between 1980 & 1990, privatised U.K North Sea oil and gas raised £166 billion in tax. The Conservative Party used it to halve income tax for top earners. Norway used their publicly-owned oil & gas revenues to fund 1st class services and establish the world’s largest Sovereign Wealth Fund.

Fossil fuel crises before the 2020s left consumers with three options: 1. Switch fuel if possible 2. Pay more if you can find fuel 3. Cut fuel use Fossil fuel crises after the 2020s give new affordable options: 4. Install cheap solar panels and batteries 5. Buy electricity-consuming devices

Question for the hive mind: If councils that have declared a climate emergency actually started acting like it was an emergency, what would they be doing? What messaging and prioritisation of services/projects would be see? 🚨🤔

Visit to a client in Stockton today took me via two new Solar Farms on the edge of County Durham From what I can tell they are separate ~49.9 MW developments within a few miles of each other Significant projects near us!!

Methane emissions Lots has been said about reducing methane emissions quickly has a quick & short term impact on warming. One thing I think is often missed - methane breaks down into CO2 and water. So reducing methane emissions and impact of reducing CO2 concentration in the long term too.

This is a key point, we have a lot of emissions that could be captured today through CCS, not to facilitate more emissions in the future. The Net Zero Teesside project near me is an example of imperfect CCS, a NEW fossil fuel power station, with CO2 captured, with potential to capture more one day
