Back in Brookline. Took a walk around the block. I paused my gym membership for 4 weeks so next week I'll try walking to the gym and getting on the recumbent bike. Surgeon said walking and "easy biking" are fine so I have to figure what easy is for me.

@universalhub.com I always seem to miss the Pride Flag at City Hall. Is there a way to find out how long they'll keep it up? I'm assuming if they're doing the flag raising today and the parade is Saturday that we get maybe a week?

I found this cane online. I don't need it for mobility right now but since I'm planning more leg surgery (one leg at a time) I figured this would be good to buy. Right now I like it on the T so I don't feel too guilty for not getting up when someone needs a seat.

I took the #mbta from Mattapan to Charlestown for a scheduled appointment yesterday. I brought a foldable cane, told myself if I hit a wall, or if the rain was bad I'd uber home. But I was fine taking the T home. Only issue was the crush load getting onto the bus. I moved away nearly 3 years ago...

I started this 6 months after my leg surgery. Title is scar stories for now. Definitely going to add to it but I don't think I'm going to continue the haiku format. Sometimes my scars sting But most of the time they sing Of miles run, tears wrung

Once again I missed Disability Pride night at Fenway Park. But I already decided I'm skipping 🏳️‍🌈 Pride night in June (just in case I'm still uncomfortable I don't want to feel stuck at Fenway) Next year, regardless of how the Sox are playing I really should go to Disability Pride.

Mom and I watched Bend it like Beckham on Disney instead of the next Hobbit movie. I'm not sure if we'll finish the other two Hobbit movies before I head back to the apartment. I don't think I've ever seen them.

Called my dentist because one of my teeth is bothering me. I have a cleaning scheduled on 6/11 but I don't think I can wait that long. They said they wouldn't be able to do the cleaning at the same time so I'll still have to come back.

Wow. I remember this pedestrian sign getting run over multiple times when I still lived at mom's. I wish the city would do something better traffic calming wise. This section of Harvard is on a hill. There are blind spots and folks speeding. This is supposed to be in the middle of the crosswalk.

I really wish there was an easy way to delete .dng photos from my phone and google photos. Because they're significantly larger than regular jpg. But for 52Frames I like using the raw file and edit in Snapseed so I keep raw mode on.

I borrowed It's Not Hysteria by Karen Tang MD twice from the library. Once when I was diagnosed with fibroids and the other when I got a surgery date. I skimmed it though since it covers *a lot* of gyn topics.

*tries to read* *ends up on phone anyway* I'm 89% of the way done with a library ebook loan. I picked Elyse Meyers' book even though I don't actively follow her account I see plenty of her content thanks to the algorithm. And I know she had a hysterectomy last year 😅

Rewatched Lord of the Rings trilogy with mom. Regular editions. There were parts I did not remember. And then at least one 🕷️ part I purposely forgot. I was definitely cringing during that scene.

😲 Side note: Vincent and the Doctor is a really good Doctor Who episode with Vincent van Gogh and they have a lovely scene where Vincent is out at night looking at the sky... It's 90% a stand alone episode in series 5 if you're ever interested.

I reset the clock to count up as a way to track recovery. Cuz math is hard. (I did the same for my leg surgery last year) I can't believe it's been 2 weeks. It feels like time is flying by and inching slowly at the same time. First post-op appointment is tomorrow.

Gotta be honest I'm stressing about my screen time more than I probably should. Even trying to keep it under 10 hours. Trying to not sit on the phone and use my time all at once. 🫠

I'm not sure what's wrong with my phone but when we lost power last night I completely lost cell service too. Mom has a different carrier and she was fine. Thanks Verizon! 🙃

Every night I have watched a movie with my brother. We've seen two of the Mummy movies, Deadpool last night and now Star Trek Nemesis tonight. But neither of us can remember the movie we watched the first night, before the Mummy 🤷 guess it wasn't memorable. It was either on Netflix or HBO.

I think I need a haircut soon. But I scheduled my appointment for 6/20.

Big question for my body at this point ~9 days post op. Taking my cane with me, walking into the nature center and visiting my favorite oak trees. I sat at a picnic table for a break before coming back the same route. My garmin measured a mile and I made sure to wear it on the non cane hand.

Ever look down at one of your favorite shirts and realize even the delicate cycle on your (commercial strength) washer is too rough on it? #ApartmentLivingProblems I swear this is more pilly than it should be. 😭

Ventured out of the house for the first time in a week yesterday. Brother drove over to Westie to CVS and Trader Joe's. I needed brand name peanut butter but trying one from Trader Joe's. 🤷

I have to figure out what kind of "discount card" CVS needs me to sign up for in order to get my out of pocket rx to be $26. I temporarily increased the dosage but scaled back when I noticed a side effect. I'm going to run out of pills before the refill date. 🤦

52Frames prompt is meaningful location this week. Still at mom's. But it's gonna rain tomorrow so I'm not sure if I'll get in the nature center for the challenge. I could take the bus to Forest Hills - kinda tempted to do that to keep my transit streak going.

I didn't bring any coloring or puzzle books. I have my laptop instead. I have my Kindle and 1 physical book. Thankfully I am up to reading. And I'm enjoying this after hearing Annabelle on @depreshmode.bsky.social

There's a couple of annoying things right now. One of which is I have to get up and walk around ~every hour. 🫣 I think I'm doing well. I also think I had better days Sunday/Monday. One thing I know is this ebb and flow is gonna continue for a few weeks at least.

So... I still have my uterus. Treated myself to a plushie. There's a bean bag inside that I can heat in the microwave. More cute than practical especially since I can use mom's heating pad.

So do I try to be disciplined and follow my screen time goals during my recovery or do I just abandon it? During the work week I'd shoot for 8 hours total. Weekend it was harder and I gave myself grace for up to 10 hours. (I know, still too much) I think in the long run I should try to keep it.

We have the Fleet game on YouTube playing. Had to duck outside after that overtime! 😬

Mom found A&E/BBC's Pride and Prejudice on Disney plus last night. The artificial commercial breaks were annoying her. Not sure if she'll watch the rest of the series - she's traveling Wednesday.

I watched Caretaker yesterday. Not sure how much of Voyager I'll get through. Struggled to pick a Trek series to watch during my recovery.

Judging by the reminiscing videos the Grey's Anatomy social team keep putting on fb I should watch the finale today to avoid being spoiled. Good thing the Pitt ended before my surgery!

Mom and I were early to my surgery check in yesterday so I took her up to the rooftop garden and got a shot of the Red Line. #mbta

NPO from here on out. Had some clear ensure pre surgery drinks for breakfast.

Lucked out with the C line shuttle. Even got a seat. Already on the Green Line at Kenmore so I'm on time. #mbta Was worried about a packed B line train at Babcock Street.

Finally contacted bcbs via their web chat. Said I'm getting surgery that's supposed to be robotic and laparoscopic. Do I need a Prior Auth? Chat agent (assuming still a human) said yes. Called the surgeon's office and they double checked for me. Said I don't need one. *Whew*

Not that I would be able to go, but I was really hoping that if the Fleet's playoff series against the Charge does go to game 5 they could play at TD Garden. Ottawa gets to play at the arena the men's team plays at... 🙃
