For anyone who has had to set difficult boundaries with their mother, shout out to you for doing the very difficult work of (re)parenting yourself. What a beautiful way of honoring yourself and your inner child.

Some ways to build connection: - Make a phone call, leave a voice note, or send a written letter - Talk to your neighbors - Be social on social media and engage with people you know - Journal, dance, or meditate (the connection with self is just as important as the connection with others)

We settle for attention when what we really need and want is connection. We keep turning to all these attention economy tools for a solution they can't provide. In fact, they're designed to push us further and further apart from each other because capitalism thrives the more isolated we are.

And that's why community and connection is so important. At the end of the day, your job will not save you from the dystopia we're in. Only community, and our common humanity, can do that.

Marx talked about how capitalism alienates us from ourselves, our community and our environment. Capitalism distances us from the things that really matter and then leads us to identify so strongly with our work, makes us think our job titles are so important, that we forget to be human.

How you handle and reveal (or don’t) your own abuse is up to you. But if you know about others being harmed and keep that to yourself, that makes you complicit.

Equity is a reaction to systemic barriers. We can’t stop there; we have to remove the barriers altogether. #spiritchat
