I see so many indie game devs tearing their hair out worrying whether their incredible passion projects are worth $20 or not and it's really funny sometimes to be reminded what a company like Nintendo thinks $20 is worth

mario galaxy 1 & 2 being $40 EACH is so bad they advertise a new physical rosalina storybook except it doesnt include the new pages they're adding in the new switch rereleases and that is just so vile. they're absolutely doing this bc of the movie but like each game was like $15 or $20 on wii u

god damn this goes crazy visually. i've always wanted to do something lofi / ghost in the shell coded but this is just so beyond anything i had imagined

i just realized how unclear progress is on the game atm, sorry about that! right now, 5.5 main levels & 4.5 full-length bonus levels have been built. there are 8 main levels planned. i've only been showing off 2-3 levels for the past year as we're still doing a major art pass on everything!

This “solo dev” and “only 3 devs” rhetoric is getting truly dangerously out of hand. Investors see this and think “I only have to pay 3 people” and the result is severely overworked and/or underpaid people and a subpar product. We need to stop treating outsourcers and contractors like ghosts.

silksong, honey...... a 80 hour game does not belong in the $20 price category...... us indies with 20 hour games really need that space for healthy expectations...

god i hope silksong is $25+ just for the sake of indie pricing standards. team cherry has a huge influence over what people expect indie games to cost atm, and it is so hard to fight those expectations especially when every major game platform takes a 30% cut!

the fact that a lot of mario kart world routes are meant to be traversed both ways is honestly a really good design reference for me! Soda-Powered Penguin does actually take some inspiration from mario kart, since viewing a SPP level as a "race course" helps inform the level shape!
