Had a good day, went out and bought way too many snacks from an Asian grocery store. Including durian ice cream which was much more reasonably priced than actual durians... No surprise, I'm writing Climbing the Ranks today and the Benevolent Durians...

I know I have a lot of work to do, but just feeling a little exhausted and beaten up from the travel. Not sure how much I'll get done... *sighs*

Feeling very lazy because I was an idiot and spent too much time staying up doing absolutely nothing. *sighs* I should go out but... lazy.

Staring at the Liberal budget, all I can say is that we desperately needed more NDP wins to balance the idiot out. Removing a luxury tax on yacths and airplanes? Why? In this day and age, why? We don't need more privatisation of our services. We need to be taxing the billionaires more.

Finished World Fantasy Con in Brighton and it was a ton of fun. Met a bunch of new writers, some older ones, a few editors and publishers. Fascinating time, city was interesting - wish I had more time to check it out properly. Was harder since I was still recovering from the surgery, but great time.

Just listed everything I had to do before the end of the year - 2 books to finish writing (or 1 to finish, 1 to get significantly done) - 1 book to finish copyedits - 1 book to redraft after dev edits - 1 book & 1 short story to finish 2nd draft - 1 co-authored book to finish dev edits on

October is shaping up to be my 2nd best month for words written so far this year. 80k and a couple more days of uninterrupted writing possible. Maybe if I REALLY pushed, I could hit the best month (over 11k away though...) I'll settle for 2nd best.

Hmmm, interesting evening... First one was an e-mail rather rudely asking if we answered e-mails with no further context. From someone as far as I can tell has never e-mailed us before. Secondly, another comment on an ad accusing me of using AI for the book and art.

Definitely popped a stitch on the inside. Today's much better than yesterday, which is nice. Will try to get some work done, but nothing major. I'll see what I feel like. Debating painkillers or not....

Really feeling lazy and not wanting to write. *sighs* These are the days when the term 'work' really comes into play.

Yesterday was a day filled with admin and doctors but I managed to get a few thousand words written. Not on the 'right' projects, since I have to finish up the short story for Ace Books, but that's the focus for today. If I can get a few thousand words in, maybe I'll be done by the end of this week

Recovery is weird. Pain is almost gone, but I know I'm still healing and can't lift anything. 10lbs is nothing... but I am not allowed to lift more than that. So I'm stuck feeling fine, knowing I could crash at any moment with exhaustion and unable to do anything physical. So weird.

Got up this morning to read through an audiobook contract for a friend, to find it was actually quite good. That's the 3rd contract (just forgot one) that I've read in recent periods where the contracts are actually reasonable. Quite the change... kind of nice what competition can do.

A quick update: I won’t be at Can*Con this year, but i'm cheering on all our friends and fellow authors who will be! Hope everyone has an amazing time, and i'm looking forward to catching up at the next con.

Slowly improving everyday, which is nice. Didn't have to nap in the middle of the day today and went for a 30 minute walk. I moved slow, but got 1.25km done, meaning my total footstep count for the day doubled from the day before. About time, since not moving is becoming a problem too.

Happy Thanksgiving, everybody. Hope you had / have some turkey dinners and remember to practise gratitude. So far, we've had turkey on the Saturday and beef ribs on the Sunday. Today's going to be boring, though. I think.

Now that the big edit for Celestial Cataclysms is done, I'm back to writing. Dungeon Brawler 2 is in need of more words. Ended at 144k yesterday, let's see how much I can add in the next few hours. Expecting around 170-180k for this book. First words then edits! #authorlife

Very annoying when events line up such that you can't make two different things you really want to do. Especially when one is a professional requirement (a panel) and another is fun (going sparring!). Ah well....

Read this. The prose sings, and tugs on heart strings and just soars in ways that I wish I could duplicate. If I could achieve 10% of Ms. Bujold's gift I would consider myself blessed. Memory is my favorite of the series, but Civil Campaign is incredibly close behind.

Finished! I'm done with Celestial Cataclysms 1 draft edit. It's now off to the copy editor, but I'm DONE. 295k words. *flops* Way too much. Time to start on new work, including the next book in the series.

Busy day. Have a panel with the Fantasy Gather in the evening, a presentation with FOLD in an hour at noon and trying to get a few more pages edited. Started at 658/694. Had an amazing evening - Apocalyptica, Lindsay Stirling and Halestorm in concert was an amazing trio.

643/692 for Celestial Cataclysms 1. That puts me at near done, if I can do at least 20 pages today. A little slow this week, comparatively but I did finish Sorcerous Plates which was the main goal. Hoping I can finish this week but I have 2 events tomorrow, so probably not.
