The Aurora over Norway last week was absolutely breathtaking! I was onboard Fred Olsen’s Balmoral cruise ship working as one of the onboard astronomers. I took this video with my iPhone 15 Pro.

Happy Valentine’s Day to my favourite little scopes! ❤️ The Sun has come out today for you! For the image taken with the S50 I used the Baader film filter from First Light Optics For the image taken with the S30 I used the kit filter that comes with the scope.

The Crab Nebula - M1 Seestar S30 30 minutes imaging time Sunday 25th January 2026 The Crab Nebula is the remnant of a supernova. The first recorded observation of the supernova that produced the Crab Nebula comes from Chinese astronomy.

Currently -2 in Shifnal I was greeted by a beautiful misty sunrise this morning. Just been outside to top up the bird feeder and make sure the water bowl is defrosted for them, the snow outside my house is frozen solid like an ice rink! Saturday 10th January 2026

Our beautiful Moon Tomorrow (3rd January) will be the first Full Moon of 2026 and it will be a Supermoon. A Supermoon occurs when a Full Moon is at its closest point to Earth in its orbit. This image is a stack of a two minute video taken with my Seestar S50. Friday 2nd January 2026

New Year’s Day 2026 Waxing Gibbous Moon - 95% illuminated The Moon was shining brightly as it nears full phase, it was rather chilly outside so I popped my Seestar out and headed back into the house to keep warm!

I had the opportunity to visit The Royal Observatory in Greenwich last weekend. It wasn’t the best weather, I got soaked standing on The Meridian Line, but it was great fun ⭐️

Last weekend I was in London at an event run by the British Astronomical Association and The Society for Popular Astronomy (SPA). I had a brilliant time representing the SPA, it was great to talk to visitors and catch up with my astronomy friends.
