Last week, we delivered three HyFive systems. 📦 One system went to Fehmarn in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, 📦 and a second system went to Maasholm in Schleswig-Holstein. Both fishermen will be taking them out for the first time soon (probably next week) and will start measuring.

We are very excited 👍 The new HyFiVe systems are ready to go! 🌊 Thanks to Hensel Elektronik for completing them on time. In January, we will equip fishermen along the Baltic Sea coast with the new systems. You can find more information about the project here: thuenen.de/hyfive-baltic 🐟

We are out at sea - the 846th cruise on the RV Solea is now underway. We are currently testing a new modular shrimp net in which the net material, the mesh size and the size of the overall net have been adapted to the current needs and wishes of the shrimp fishery. #sustainablefishing #science

In the last days we embarked on an exciting #EducationalJourney with the Searanger apprentices to Bornholm, Sweden & Denmark. 🚢 Along the way, we met fishermen, net makers, and researchers, allowing us to gain a good understanding of the current situation among our Scandinavian neighbors.

After 2 years of trying out new entrances for flatfish traps the days of our experiment have come to an end. Today we dismantled the net cage & all the materials used, cleaned them & took them to the institute. Now it's time to sit down, analyze the videos & start to write. #fish #science #balticsea

We used the sunny day to measure and deploy flatfish for our net cage experiments in Warnemünde. In the Stella2 project, we are also investigating fish trap entrances. We observe the fish 24/7 with infrared cameras to better understand their behaviour. thuenen.de/stella2
