I think some people hear “grants” and think that without them, scientists and government workers just have less stuff to play with at work. But grants fund salaries for students, academics, researchers, and people who work in all areas of public service. “Pausing” grants means people don’t eat.

Last week, the students in my course, Bodies of Evidence: The Science of CSI, completed their final activity, a mock crime scene recovery. They worked in teams to assess, document, and recover (plastic) human remains. I had a blast working with them this semester. Onto Forensic Anth in the spring!

Had a fantastic time at the Mountain, Swamp, and Beach Regional Forensic Anthropology Conference with my students last weekend. We heard several great talks about current research in forensic anthropology in the southeast!

Finally found a use for these postcards of old anatomical illustrations I got from the Getty Museum in LA last summer. Did you know that they have a collection of old medical illustrations from the 18th-19th centuries?? Excited to integrate these documents into my future teaching and research!
