Auteur theory has decimated our industry to the point that it gets used as a motivational tool. It works with pride and the fact that most of us are only interested in personal gain and being remembered as an individual rather than elevate what survives, which is the work.

“You could be the next Tezuka! The next Satoshi Kon! The next Don Bluth! The next…” and the list goes on. But the thing of it is, they want you thinking of one person, to forget that there were other people involved, and for every known name, there’s a billion people who got them there.
