For a 1.0 story I'm genuinely impressed with the quality of Duet's story so far. The MC starts off involving themselves in conversations, and they have a really memorable and hilarious personality that you can kind of shape with dialog options. This is a genuinely impressive game.

now that I quit HSR and gacha in general, I can spend $40 of my disposable income a month between DNA and FFXIV. between these two games, I have enough insanely high quality story content to keep me going in between farms. I'm hooked.

My verdict on DNA now that I'm approaching trial level 40 is that I'm happy that I quit HSR for this. I will not be returning until the compulsion to try for Yae Sakura becomes unbearable.

I think it's a really good sign that Duet Night Abyss's biggest flaws are movement and visuals (performance, texture resolution, character models). The combat seems fine to people, and there's no shortage of content and UI polish. I see something in this game.

I wanna make a video on why I fell out of love with HSR but the short of it is that I finally realized that 3.0 was a factory to mass-produce and optimally monetize hype at the expense of the rest of the game. It's the ultimate in Hoyo spending as little as possible to make as much as possible.

To the redditors on the DNA sub expecting goty from a fucking f2p game, glazing it to hell and back before preload even started, shitting on Hoyo and Kuro players every chance they got, and then being disappointed when the game wasn't the second coming of jesus, sucks to suck, suckers.

I finally met (and recruited!!) Chibi Phoebe. I'd level her but I'm focused on vertical investment atm, so I'm currently raising Rebecca until I can get Psyche. Once I have a vertically invested endgame character then I'll switch to leveling the rest of my roster, like I did with warframe.

I forgot to mention here. I didn't just uninstall HSR, I uninstalled every gacha game except Nikke. I also deleted HoyoPlay. I'm done with predatory gacha. Even though DNA has a costume banner I'd still rather have that because I can skip it if I don't want it and not suffer for it later.

Duet Night Abyss is everything I wanted it to be. I'm having so much fun. Side quests are enjoyable too, and the main story is well-paced so far, having not yet suffered from the cutscene bloat that HSR and WuWa underwent in their respective 2.x patches. Leveling is pretty fast too.
