Finally able to log my final films for 2025 for my Letterboxd year in review!

First film of 2026 done! If I had a nickle for everytime I saw David Morse in something where he had to deal with someone's unprocessed trauma that revolves around being haunted by ghost, I'd have 2 nickles, but it's weird it happened twice.

Almost forgot my last Christmas movie of the year! Our Little Secret could have been a mess like Merry Ex-Mas but it actually holds back on some aspects while cranking up on others in a way that made it entertaining and actually had me rooting for the relationship. It's a silly premise, but it's fun

Starting my threads of TV shows with the ending of Stranger Things. This was a long wait for what is pretty much a niche show. I love the characters, the premise was interesting, and the monsters were cool. But a lot of the good will the show garnered began faltering in previous seasons and...

Last book of the year, The Lost by Natasha Preston. It was a pretty good thriller but kacked some of the tension her other books have. It's not my least favorite. It's still pretty good, and it has all the twists and turns I look forward to from these books.

Just finished the main story of Spider-Man: Miles Morales, and I liked it. It's not as great as the first game, but honestly, it's just the dialog that brings it down. So many conversations sound like exposition or mentioning things that characters shouldn't know. It pulled me out a bit.

As much as Nissan has fallen from grace, I wish more car companies would focus on a halo car and brand uniqueness. Everydthibg looks so samey now-a-days. It's like the 70s all over again when everything was a box, but now everything is egg-shaped. 😓

Just watched this with my wife as we wind down our Hallmark-esq Christmas marathon. It wasn't great. It had a few chuckle worthy moments here and there, and I loathed the way some things were handled. Yes, loathed, but it was ultimately a passable Christmas movie.

Think I'm finally caught up. Man, Novemeber and December snuck up on me, gafbe me a wedgie, and left me hanging from a flag pole. I have yet to catch my breath from September. I'm tired, but I hope I can get back to the routine of it all soon.

Finished Season 1 of The Mighty Nein last night, and honestly, I'm whelmed by it. A lot of my love for the show comes from the good grace Vox Machina pulled, but it's really stretching how much I care about it and what's going on.

Finished Bat Eater and other names for Cora Zeng by Kylie Lee Baker, and, yeah, not much has changed since the pandemic, huh? Brutal reality aside, this was a brutal ghost story that had me guessing all the way through. Highly recommend for supernatural mystery lovers like myself.

Isn't It Romantic seemed polarizing after I finished watching it, I saw the reviews and, yikes. My wife and I personally liked it. It was funny and silly in the ways a raunch comedy would be, but forced to be a Rom-Com, which is itself absurd. It was kind of predictable, but it had a good message.

Watched The Green Knight on Christmas, not knowing it takes place on Christmas! How serendipitous! I love A24 movies. They've all got this cool esthetic to them, even if they're not great. This one is good, though. I loved it! The effects were neat. The acting was fantastic. The story was great!

Spraking of forgetting. Kung Fu Panda 3 is my least favorite of the movies so far. I feel like the further we venture from the furious 5 the worse the story gets.

Crap, I forgot to follow up on Hotel Transylvania. There's a steady decline in writing quality, but the animation does the heavy lifting. Dreading watching the Straight to Prime Video 4th one.

...I need more. I am a sucker for adorable romantic anime, and Fragrant Flowers Blooms With Dignity was adorable. No notes.

Finished the first 2 seasons of The Way zhome in November and I'm not okay. I need more, I know season 3 is out on Hallmark, Also, THIS IS A HALLMARK SHOW!? This is a really well made show! I cannot recommend it enough!

Ghosting: The Spirit of Christmas could have been a pretty generic movie. Heck, it's only lightly Christmas related. But, it does something not a lot of other "Ghost Rom-Coms does and I appreciate it for that.

Advant calendar are cute, and this movie had a fun premise with it that I'm surprised no one had done up until now. Everything else was basically the Rom-Com trope of "Girl falls for the wrong guy when the right one was in front of her the whole time." Still cute though.

I did not like The Noel Diary. It wasn't terrible, the acting was fine, the stroy was okay, but it drops the ball so hard, that it just melted the snow. Unlikable love interest made it a tough movie to sit through.

So, I had hopes for this one. Not high, but still hopes. It was okay. It was cute, the cast was decent, the jokes where hit or missed, and the romance was telegraphed a mile away.

Easily my top five favorite Christmas movies of all time. LoveHard is a typical "He was right in front of you the whole time" movie, but it feels earned and everyone is actually respectful. It's a nice change of pace.

Thorn season had my curiosity at first, but then it had my attention! So m6ch political intrigue and yeah, some of the Romantasy tropes are there, but subdued and kind of taking a back seat to the plot.

I could not put this book down! Killers of a Certain Age by Deanna Raybourn is easily one of my favorite books I've read this year!

So, I've somehow ended up watching almost everything ScarJo has been in and Netflix just so happened to put one of the few I've been avoiding. Yes, yes, Micheal Bay, explosions, sexisim/racism coments here. But this movie had a cool premise, and in a more story driven director's hands, couldve work.

Finding out there's a Broadway show coming out, I had to rewatch one of my younger guilty pleasures, Romy and Michelle's High School Reunion. It's absurd, aimless, and awkward, and I still enjoyed it.

I had never watched Kung Fu Panda 2 and wasn't looking forward to it. I figured the sequel would probably just be more silly antics and cringy, yet it was great. Incredibly, it gives more character to the side cast, especially the dad character. I loved it, and it had so much heart!

Have you ever watched a movie and wondered what did it take to get to get it made? Was there blackmail? Extortion? Sacrifices to elderich horrors? My Brother the Pig feels like one of those movies. A children's movie that is so tone deaf I felt sorry for everyone involved in this horror.

I love this type of show; a fun, slice of life, Rom-Com, with melodramatic over the top, tounge firmly in cheek, story, and I ate this up for two seasons, but, as it's usually the case, canceled before it had a satisfying conclusion.

watched Kung Fu Panda with my wife last night, and I honestly forget how much fun and adorable this movie is. Plenty of laughs, though an incredibly talented cast seems so wasted on such small parts. It's not as great as Shrek or How To Train Your Dragon, but it's still very enjoyable.

With a second playthrough done, I am not going to try again for a long time, so I looked up the other endings. The combat in Silent Hill f is very off-putting for me. It's too reliant on your ability to counter and precise "get good" dodge mechanics that I am not good at. That said...

Unsteady by Peyton Corinne was a fantastic little romance novel even though it's slightly outside of my wheelhouse. Not being a sports fan in any capacity, I thought this would be difficult to get into, but it's not. It's starts as an angsty teen romance, but it goes much deeper.

Just finished my first play through of Silent Hill f. It was an amazing story with plenty of intrigue with deep storytelling and plenty of reasons to play it again as I try to get the true ending. but I do have some gripes.

Finished Split Fiction with my wife the other day, and I loved it so much. It's not as great as It Takes Two or A Way Out, but the gameplay is so much fun, especially toward the end! it gets incredibly creative!

Decided I hated myself, and watched The Rats: A Witcher Tale, right after the show and, I will preface this with how much I don't care for prequels, especially if the story is already done and there's not a lot of lore to be had. This was one of those times.

So I bit the bullet and watched the Witcher's latest season. I didn't want to. Henry Cavill seemed irreplaceable. Turns out I was right. And it's no fault of Liam Hemsworth. He's a fine actor in his own way, but not for Geralt. It's like putting Charlie Cox as Wolverine. it just doesn't work.

Isekai Harem, but makenit funny. I Got Abducted By Aliens and Now I'm Trapped in a Rom-Com by Kimberly Lemming made me laugh out loud in a weirdly raunchy spicey novel that balanced what could basically be adult content with comically absurd scenarios and I was hooked from beginning to end!

Probably my least favorite of Natasha Preston's novels, You Will Be Mine, had me skimming ahead and reaching the end and feeling like I didn't miss out anything important. I still love her characters, and the mystery made me intrigued, but it is definitely pretty weak.

The Witches of El Paso by Luis Jaramillo was pretty cool. I have to admit I'm not one for time travel stories, so I had an inkling of how it would end by the halfway point but, I enjoyed the characters and recommend it to anyone who loves a good mystical mystery.
