I love Monet's painting series where he studied the different effects of light and color on the same subject. As a designer, I want to explore using different designs to explore the same topic to highlight different dimensions and angles of the topic.

Battle of Tours 732AD, one of the Turning Point Simulations series of smaller wargames, but with a mounted map. They cover the so-called “20 Decisive Battles.” This one is by Berg, and a slightly lighter version of his MOI system. Which I don’t love, but appreciate learning about it all.

Reminder that the "AI just for concept art" is a lie. Those that say this do so because they intend to quietly use AI art in their final product, and if someone calls them out on it, they can say "Whoops concept art must have slipped in." I've seen this pattern repeat in board and video games.

The most striking thing to me when comparing this site to Xhitter is how, despite being a much smaller community, Bluesky is bustling with creativity. Everyone here is learning and making stuff. For all its “reach” Xhitter has become a graveyard for creativity.

Pet peeve time: When game designers say, “Follow the rules to the letter.” 2 things: 1. You’re telling me your game has 0 errata. A bold statement. Congrats on your perfect game. 2. It implies that you know there are parts that might be confusing and you refuse to reinforce them. #BoardGames
