Saw some footage yesterday using the James Cameron Stability Ai software, generated from single frame & prompts - blimey it was quite something. As he himself says, it will ‘cut the cost of filmmaking in half’ but I don’t agree it won’t mean ‘without laying off half the staff’. Shifting sands ahead.

RIP Ted Kotcheff. Director of so many great films, who gracefully glided through genres and always entertained. What a range!

Chat with someone this morning about Ai in film, specifically tech in dev by a company a couple of years ago, set to flip everything; it’s nightmare fuel for creatives, Starmer best read the small print. I hope the good will always out, & nothing beats reel/real life experiences, guess we’ll see… 🤞

Just reading #warpfilms are developing series adaptation of nuclear nightmare film ‘Threads’. Should be good, their stuff usually is. The film terrified me as a kid. Wonder if it’s cast yet? Ahem.

Enjoyed ‘Zero Day’; It was just that little bit less terrifying than the actual news.

Watched ‘The Popes Exorcist’. Christ on a bike. Only further emphasises how brilliant ‘The Exorcist’ is.

Thank goodness this never happened. The Sinatra-Kershner version got far enough up the production ladder for the studio to produce a piece of artwork with Sinatra in the title role – This went out in an advertisement that appeared in Variety on November 9, 1970

Spent Saturday strolling around Oxford, and visited the amazing Pitt Rivers museum. (Almost as much stuff as in my office).

Sad to hear of the passing of Joan Plowright. An excellent actress. She was amazing in the late 80s BBC production of ‘The Birthday Party’, starring (the playwright) Harold Pinter, and a stellar ensemble including Julie Walters, and Kenneth Cranham as Stanley Webber. Left quite a mark.

Since I saw ‘The Elephant Man’ on vhs oh so many years ago (early 80s), I knew I wanted to be in it one day. David Lynch’ powerful film making & extraordinary performances had such a mesmerising effect on me. Pic here from 2017, playing Dr Treves on stage. Took a while. Thank you Mr Lynch.
