This Black History Month, I've been reflecting on the many Black leaders in the fight for sex ed. I was especially taken by the story of Louisiana State Representative Alphonse Jackson, who introduced legislation for 5 consecutive years to repeal the ban on sex ed in his state.

Living on an island is great if you want to bring back some of that “working parents trying to coordinate picking you up from an afterschool event during middle school” vibe that we all miss so much as adults.

Happy national condom day! I love condoms as an invention so much I would write a Valentine to them even if their day wasn’t celebrated on V-day already. They’re cheap, easy to manufacture, and prevent both STIs and pregnancy—a sexual health advocate/educator/provider’s dream.

The week of Christmas, which I had off from work, I got sick and could barely make it from my bed to the couch. All I could handle was watching hour upon hour of hallmark and then lifetime Christmas movie.

They should make early childhood education majors take one semester of shop class or something to learn about vehicles so we don’t make fools of ourselves come actual teaching time.

Sometimes I have a thought and then another thought follows that one without any warning and then all of a sudden I’m doing something truly sociopathic like putting my face in Christmas ornaments to give to my best friends.

They should invent an internal birth control that pops up like a meat thermometer when it’s time to be replaced.

I think what Love, Actually means by “Christmas is when you tell the truth,” is that “Christmas is when you get to be cheesy.” So it’s a good time to tell the truth that is too cheesy to say the rest of the year, and that’s something. I GUESS.

Are creators of children's products trying to frustrate parents and caregivers by only making multi-colored packs? I don't want a pack of 8 different colored plates, where one becomes the favorite. I want identical items that can't be distinguished from one another.

I forget that not everyone knows my day job (running a preschool) and once I told someone that I try to finish the crossword every day "by naptime," and he responded: "tell me more about this naptime." And, you know, what a joy to imagine a world in which I nap every day!

Sometimes I look at Real Frank sitting on top of the bookshelf, where Orange Frank can’t get him, staring straight at the wall, and I think: “you know what, I get it.”
