dealt with some more deep stash to make this - ruffle top from Breaking the Pattern by Named Clothing. fabric is miscellaneous quilting cotton that must be at least 15 years old, and the buttons are recycled from an old cardigan 🪡 #sewsky

decided to use up some stash fabric (and probably jinx the weather) by making this unnecessarily summery dress 🪡

for #ShowMeYourKnits garter stitch week, here’s my Waiting for Rain. Short rows with neat little lace panels to break up all that garter. it’s brilliantly wrappable, although sometimes I just knot it around my shoulders and waft around like I’m the ghost of a Victorian washerwoman 👻🧶

booked a ticket for an in-person talk without checking the venue… turns out it is not in the easy-to-reach town centre venue, but the one at the end of a 1.5 hour walk through cow-filled fields, or along a road with no streetlights or pavement 🫠

I love a lined dress but loathe and despise lining fabric, which is all woven in the most pungent depths of hell. I carefully trim, fold, and sew the hem so it won’t show below the main fabric. it shows anyway. I wear the dress for 10 minutes and it bunches right up around my hips. HOW. WHY. evil.

I am also currently making a twee little pinafore that was blessed by a rare blast of sunlight this afternoon… you can just about see the shadow of the clips holding it onto the dummy because the next step is the zip and I don’t wanna 😅 #sewing 🪡

ooh, current WIP for #ShowMeYourKnits - this throw is starting to get big… but not quite as big as the last one was when it broke my foot, so hopefully I’m safe on that front. ~75k stitches done, ~35k to go 😅 🧶

I’ve spent the last six days interviewing people for a work project and I am SPENT. begging my boss to just let me sit in the basement with a spreadsheet for the next project 😭

sometimes I think it would be great to be a bird, what with the flying and the unrestrained screaming and the not having a job. but then I watch one having to smash its entire face into a suet feeder to get a morsel of food, and I’m really not sure if that sits on the pro or con side 🤔

ok… I legitimately can’t stop thinking about this one. the 3D butterflies! the slightly inaccurate representation of metamorphosis! the buttons! the use of texture (bouclé for the stems, angora and chenille for the flowers/butterflies)!! true artistry 🥲

finally managed to score some knitting books in a local charity shop. couple of sensible ones, and then this… I wheezed so hard and audibly when I pulled this off the shelf and saw the styling I could not leave it behind. 😂
