Wow, yesterday was my last day of my full summer season at my little gift shop Coralbox 🙂 thank you all for keeping me busy & supporting my island business. I'm looking forward to heading off for an 18 day van adventure up North- full of fresh air, beaches, good food, sea dips & exploring! ☺️

Ferry booked for another mainland van adventure, 18 days of exploring 🙂 little van & I are heading from Ullapool along the west & north coast to John o Groats / Wick 🚐 Any recommendations of things to do, places to visit or delicious seafood? 🙂 photos: last years long van trip

An amazing amount of Velella, or 'by the wind sailors' washed up on the west coast beaches today & bigger in size than any other year I remember. But look closer, you will notice a very special shell attached... a violet sea snail 😍 my first one I've ever found #OuterHebrides

Yesterday I had the most wonderful day trip to Canna ☺️ an early drive to Lochboisdale for our boat journey across direct to Canna. A lovely tour around Canna House & an explore of the East of the island. A walk across to Sanday to the beach for my picnic & a swim #InnerHebrides

Best find of today 🐚 a new type of shell for my collection... a 'Patella pellucida' or as they are known blue-rayed limpets. So excited to have found 3 today! The bright blue fluorescent colour across the length of the shell looks magical ✨️ #OuterHebrides

An amazing landing in Madeira yesterday ☺️ even with the rain & clouds for my arrival, it's cleared up to sunshine & a lovely 18 degrees so far. And look at that hotel view for the next 2 weeks 😍 Off to explore ☺️

A great flight with Loganair from Benbecula to Glasgow this morning 🛫 beautiful clear views down to Oban & the Isle of Kerrera. The white dot on the left - Calmac's MV Isle of Mull sailing into Oban from Castlebay ⛴️

A lovely afternoon beach walk between the heavy rain showers & high winds but worth it to find a new brick to add to my collection 🧱 Stamped "DARNGAVIL" with a ribbed upper side. Off to research more as these were manufactured either in Airdire or Craigrigg Works, West Lothian 🙂

A beach find from today 🙂 a marked piece of pottery from what would have been a vintage stoneware flagon. These were filled with anything from beverages to chemicals - usually with the neck of the flagon stamped with the merchant name & address. Off to research my clues 🧐

After a super busy day, a sunset walk on the beach was needed 🧡 #OuterHebrides

Another vulcanite bottle stopper marked 'George Younger & Son, Alloa' for my collection & also this vintage fragment of pottery 'R.Thomson' from what would have been a small measuring cup, maybe only 5cm high marked with the correct measurements on the reverse. Such a cool find 🙂

A good haul at low tide 😍 an amazing mixture of tiny bottles, vulcanite bottle stoppers, metal lids & a range of marked bottles from companies across Edinburgh, Oban & Perth. My favourites include an amber glass jar of Pond's cream, & a clear glass jar marked stomach powder🫙

Eeeek! Today's low tide find in the Outer Hebrides 😊 a perfect glass bottle marked 'Stephenson Brothers', ' Furniture Cream'. An amazing find hidden in the sand & rocks. Off to research more but I've found this vintage advert from 1920's🪑

Happy Sunday 😊 7.25 miles of West coast beaches walked 🐚 multiple white tailed eagle sightings, amazing WTE footprints spotted, otter prints and the best weather of the year so far. Some amazing drone photos too! 😊 time for a prosecco or two 🥂 #OuterHebrides

Look at the size of the footprint from a White tailed eagle 🦅😳 the eagle had landed on the beach in the distance to eat a bird. This is the size of its footprint left in the sand, compared to my size 5 😳 what an amazing sight to see in the wild #OuterHebrides

And the best find of today... part of a vintage lighter 🔥 camouflaged in the stones it was a last minute find, but what a find! The cotton balls still intact. Time to dry it out and research more 😍 a brand new find for my collection.

A stormy day here on Lewis 🌊 beautiful views across to mainland Scotland 😍

Look who I spotted out and about today 🦦 coming ashore to eat a fish feast and away again 🐟 I've had a few tiny glimpses of this otter over the last few weeks but never more than a few seconds before being lost in the waves or rocks. Amazing to sit and watch for longer today 😍

An exciting shoreline find to add to my collection - a vintage 'CARFIN' brick 🧱 Produced in North Lanarkshire between 1900 & 1920 at Carfin Brickworks. Many Lithuanians worked here fleeing their homeland for a better life to work in coal, brick or steelworks. Off to research more... ☺️
