Flora Wambaugh Patterson (1847-1928) was a mycologist & the first woman hired as a plant pathologist by US Department of Agriculture. She ran the National Fungus Collections for almost 30 years, adding over 90k fungal specimens & expanding the collection six-fold, making it the largest of its kind.
