Ice breakers serve a pivotal role in ensuring winter navigation along the 🇫🇮 coast. Thank you Arctia Ltd for organizing a tour for us onboard Polaris. Very interesting conversations on the role of ice breakers in safeguarding security of supply in Finland.

The will to defend remains high in Finland. This was clearly highlighted during our visit to Santahamina garrison, where we got a detailed look at the 🇫🇮 conscription system. Thank you National Defence University and Guard Jaeger Regiment for the fantastic tour (and the delicious field lunch).

Civil defence shelters have long been integral to 🇫🇮 #preparedness. We visited Merihaka shelter, built into the bedrock with capacity for 6,000 people. In everyday life, the space is also used as a playground, sports hall and a gym – illustrating the dual-purpose nature of many Finnish shelters.
