Passive acoustic monitoring is a powerful way to detect birds. Researchers from my institute contributed to the first annotated dataset of bird vocalisations, which will advance automated bird detection algorithms.

In 2018-2022, artificial islands were built in the Szczecin Laggon, PL by the Maritime Office in Szczecin. Dr Dominik Marchowski from our institute has been an expert ensuring the islands are safe and valuable bird habitats. Science for conservation! #BirdConservation #BalticSea #ScienceImpact

Darwin posited that innate and learned signals could be evolutionarily related. Happy to share my recently published paper! In male aquatic warblers (Acrocephalus paludicola) males that more frequently sang aggressive songs used to deter other males had more nestlings and were more likely to contract avian malaria, and males with more diverse song were in better condition.
