The past fortnight has been full of conversations across the South Cotswolds 💛 I’ve also been helping with casework on pensions, housing, Universal Credit, student support and more. Always a privilege to support where I can.

Yesterday I asked the Justice Secretary what he’s doing to tackle court backlogs. ⚖️ Constituents are right to be worried, victims are being denied justice and delays are growing. I’ll keep pushing the Govt to fix this and ensure our courts deliver for everyone.

51 Bus between Cheltenham and Cirencester: 📢 I’ve written to Stagecoach West alongside Sir Geoffrey Clifton Brown about the recent 51 bus timetable changes. These adjustments are affecting young people, NHS and care staff, and older residents, creating long waits and gaps during peak travel times.

📱 On Sun 7 Sept at 3pm the UK Govt will test its Emergency Alerts system. Phones & tablets will sound a loud siren & vibrate – no action needed. Alerts warn of dangers like extreme weather. Tests ensure the system works in real emergencies. More info: gov.uk/alerts

🚨 I’ve written to the Policing Minister about the closure of Gloucestershire’s Schoolbeat programme. This is a vital service helping to safeguard young people. Cutting it risks undoing years of trust, prevention, and early intervention. We need fairer police funding now.

I'm deeply troubled by news that councils may be forced to sell off community allotments to stay afloat. Allotments have supported communities for generations and help people grow their own food and improve their health, The Government must do better and I’ll work to protect them.

I welcome the news that Ofwat is being scrapped. The Lib Dems have been calling for this since 2022. But this is only the first step. I’ll keep pushing for a new regulator that puts communities and nature first, and makes sure water companies are finally held to account.

Good news and a Lib Dem campaign win! The Lib Dems have been campaigning for years that 16 and 17 year olds should have the right to vote. If you can join the army and pay taxes, you should have the right to vote! 💛🗳️ This is welcome news for my young constituents.

NHS dentistry is in crisis and the Gov’s response to my letter doesn’t go far enough. I met South West dentists this week who echoed what I’ve seen locally: qualified professionals are being blocked from practising. In rural areas like ours, that’s indefensible.

In March I wrote to the DWP about cuts to PIP. The Minister’s reply failed to address the real crisis: our broken care system. Cutting support won’t help disabled people into work. I’ll vote against the Bill on Tuesday and for our Reasoned Amendment. #PIP #DisabilityRights
