2. I really enjoyed this one and I can't wait to see the great man himself give a talk about it in March. Of the autobiographies I've read from former Smiths members this is my favourite, it has such a nice informal tone throughout and it's also fittingly dedicated to Andy Rourke

Books I've read in 2026: 1. My first book of the year was a brilliant read from Tim Brannigan, a very well wrote and compelling memoir of a fascinating life that also provides an insight into modern Irish history

24. The parts about Brown working in the music press are excellent and there is some good moments of self-reflection as well (such as the subject of addiction). The rest I can take or leave, there's way too much name dropping, tales of excess and self-praise for Loaded Magazine

23. Seen some pretty scathing reviews of this but I thought it was a decent enough easy read and Mortimer mixed the crime aspect of the book with humour well. A pleasant enough debut novel

22. An excellent read, Behan had a unique literary voice. The book is initially bleak as it starts with his arrest for a planned IRA bombing and stay in the grim HM Prison Walton but as it develops and he's moved to borstal it develops a warmth as he writes about friendship
