At PHL heading back home after #iac26. It's been another awesome Information Architecture Conference. I went out of my comfort zone this year: gave an in-person talk, went up to people I've seen before from afar and actually introduced myself, and had lunch and dinner with new conference friends.

In just one week: A GOP president deployed Marines in a U.S. city, called for a Democratic governor’s arrest, the GOP Speaker called for him to be tarred and feathered, a Democratic senator was handcuffed, and two Democratic legislators were shot in their homes.

Black people had to fight in the courts for a century after slavery to get our basic rights in America. White people simply decided “DEI is racist” and with a snap of a finger all the equity programs are gone. Nobody had to go to court,nobody had to prove disparate impact… just vibes.

Especially if you're on the fence about it, protest today. Fascism is isolating and lonely. Its very goal is to make you feel like you're the only person unwilling to accept a cult of personality. On days like today you fully realize there are more of us than there are them. You will feel better.
