...90% of nonprofit leaders are worried about staff burnout...one in ten leaders say burnout isn't affecting their team...nearly seven in ten nonprofit employees said they'd consider leaving this year...too much responsibility, not enough support.

this is what open source is all about π€ > Looking back at this past year, itβs crazy how much has changed. From my very first small PR to becoming a maintainer in multiple projects. Iβve learned that communication is key in Open Source, and when people work together openly, incredible things happen

This ended up WAY longer than I was originally intending, turns out I had a lot to say on the topic. How an event-loop issue turned into a multi-week review of per-key revivers, schema-driven walkers, simdjson, V8 codegen, and custom pipeline for our Model Cache.

I don't think tech at large understands how hard it is to be an open source maintainer right now. So many great folks are on the brink of burnout. Funding is drying out. We live in a security minefield. Companies think humans are disposable. If you're a maintainer, we care. You deserve the world.

Go out and see this movie on the biggest screen you can find. A fantastic adaptation of the book, set designs and visual effects are amazing, probably cause there's no green screens. I listened to a podcast with Lord and Miller (directors) after and the care that went in shows.

I told my daughter my job from now on is to take care of my oss friends, so we can build together an awesome online world for when they grow up and join us in the fun. We'll do things differently from now on. We've found each other again. We'll do good for the web, and make a ton of new friends.
