On the County Board last week, I supported a resolution urging Congress to restore collective bargaining rights for federal employees. In Congress, I’ll keep up that fight. Our federal workers deserve the right to unionize, and I’ll always stand with them.

Just because summer is over doesn’t mean parades are. We had such a fun time walking in the Oktoberfest Parade in Elk Grove Village. It was great seeing so many familiar faces.

Our tenants are better off today because of clear rules that protect them.

If you’ve ever been screwed over by a landlord, you understand how unfair it can be. I was the lead sponsor on a bill that passed the Cook County Board, expanding the rights of renters against illegal lockouts and insane move-in fees.

I am honored to receive the endorsement of Equality PAC. As a member of the LGBTQ+ community, I know how much representation matters – especially with LGBTQ+ rights under attack today. I am proud to stand with Equality PAC to keep pushing for equality and justice for all. 🏳️‍🌈

I am saddened to learn today of the passing of Former Illinois Governor Jim Edgar. I will always remember Governor Edgar for his incredible work mentoring upcoming leaders on the importance of finding common ground and bipartisanship.

Like many, I am reeling from reports of more gun violence at a high school in Colorado. My heart breaks for their community. We must do better for our kids and we cannot accept this as a reality. Congress must act.

Regardless of who we are or what we believe, political violence has no place in America. We can disagree without resorting to violence. Charlie Kirk and I both come from the Northwest Suburbs, and I am praying for him and his family.

I believe that if you earn a full week’s wage, you ought to be able to afford to live. In Congress, I’ll stand up to special interests and fight for us.

The Supreme Court has agreed to hear arguments that could overturn marriage equality. This hard-fought right is on the line. In Congress, I’ll fight to protect our freedoms, including the freedom to marry who you love.

A lot of people have asked why we’re gathering signatures to get on the ballot. Our democracy only works when people step up to be a part of it, and that’s why we’re organizing the community and gathering signatures.

The fight for our democracy is always worth it. The least I could do in return was offer them old-fashioned Illinois hospitality. I’m proud of Illinois for standing up to the undemocratic power grab in Texas.

Texas legislators took refuge in Illinois to block an undemocratic power grab. Over the weekend, they stopped by Dino’s for pizza and a conversation about democracy. As these heroes return to face Gov. Abbott, we stand with them. Illinois has their back.

My team and I had a blast gathering more petition signatures yesterday, and it was a pleasure to speak at the Fight For Our Communities Rally. Thank you to the Schaumburg Area Democrats for hosting us, and to Indivisible Elk Grove Township for putting together another fantastic rally.
