recovering from a broken shoulder is the most mentally exhausting thing i've ever done and the worst part is that even when things are "getting better" it still feels like you're _so_ far away from "better" :(

Using a computer with two hands for the first time in a month and wow my hands forgot how to type this feels so weird

The more movement my arm gets back the more miserable 5+ more weeks of recovery feels tbqh 😓

It’s kinda weird how little pain my arm itself ends up in, unless actively doing physical therapy steps/reflexive stupidity (and those things spike to a 10, but for like… a split second), so relatively soon after surgery.

Really missing having two arms and being able to do things like “wash my own hair” 🙃 Instead I’m a cyborg with an upper arm full of titanium and a variety of medical advice from “do as much as you can” through to “move your arm wrong and your muscle will break the titanium pin”

the thing nobody warns you about before you build a bunch of muscle is that you will be hungry all the time unless you have adhd and then you just forget to really eat properly until you faint

Glass is good at teaching you to detach from things… right after recording this I managed to… break out the cups avolio while knocking off :( But I’m still really happy with how this went. I do love that going thin is increasingly my default too 😅

I still need to buy new lights (and some large-ish softboxes), but my new backdrops and holder arrived! Slowly getting things ready to do nice photography of my glass over the next few months 🎉 - but for now enjoy a couple of recent pieces with some very awkward lighting.

Goblets are peak "glassblowing for glassblowers" in that they're entirely pointless but are a really fun way to challenge yourself. I haven't made any in the hotshop since September, but had a great time making this full cane goblet and now i might spend some time making more 😂 #glassart

the problem with owning a 3d printer is that whenever I'm using it, I end up wishing I had ~3 3D printers because I'm impatient and there's always too many things to print at once.

I think it’s finally time to order a cargo bike but I still cant decide between an Omnium and a Bullitt (probably electric versions of either). The Omnium riding like a regular bike is nice, and I don’t need to carry _a huge_ amount of stuff day-to-day…

I just taught my last glassblowing class, and tallied up that I've taught _90_ people this summer, which is absolutely wild - but it's been an incredible experience to guide folks through working with a material that I fell in love with so much 😍

Making use of some of my recent practice goblets - they’re getting better! (Opening vessels on the torch is definitely still not my strong suit, but getting better!)

I really struggled to shape this one, and was definitely a “what can you save” effort - the blue turned to butter, and the stiff cane combination made it want to get weird fast. I think I know how to make this go better next time though - and that’s what counts 😅 #art #glass
