One project that I have been committing a substantial amount of time to over the last 3 years is Fragged Cosmos - a non-destructive legacy sandbox game based on the Fragged Empire RPG universe. We are coming to the pointy end of the project with a crowdfunding hopefully toward the end of 2025

Another play of Lord of the Rings Duel for Middle Earth. Really enjoying it, I'm surprised how much just having a theme I'm invested in makes the game so much more engaging.

First game of Harmonies (that I was gifted for Christmas) great little thinky game. I just cracked 100 points. Very satisfying token arranging and lots of competing objectives. It's interesting it gets compared to Cascadia as it is completely different in play and feel.

Had a great time playing through the first 4 chapters of The Fellowship of the Ring trick taking game. Playing as the characters is great & the goals attached to them match their personalities & general intents well. Knowing the IP helps but to me it does feel like we are stepping through the story.

Have had a great few days at cancon, playing games and testing prototypes. Favourite game so far has been Cascadia, and some great feedback on 5 prototypes so far :D

Another great game of Diatoms by @sabrinac.bsky.social cracked 300 points!

Exciting news - received an official offer on a co-designed boardgame yesterday! Just negotiating the contract, but hopefully will be signed by the end of the year!

Rulebooks have been posted on BGG for my next upcoming game Octocube by Sit Down! to be released 2025! Really excited for it to finally come to market!

Finally got to see DnD movie - I quite enjoyed it. Plot was a bit predictable, but action was believable and well corigraphed. Lots of great references for people in the hobby and plenty to keep newcomers engaged. Favourite character was Doric :)

Fantastic first public playtest of Fragged Cosmos with @fraggedempire.bsky.social and some of his discord community. I was a little nervous how well it would be received but it was a resounding "This is great! can't wait until it's actually complete!" Very reassuring, time to get designing!

I must say over the last 3 years judging the @cardboardedison.bsky.social award, the calibre of entries has increased each year - unique twists on old mechanics with themes I have yet to see in published games! Really cool time to be in this space!

Have been giving my office & desk space a thorough tidy & reflecting on the year as I discover old projects in piles of papers. There have certainly been some disappointments with a lot of previously signed games set for release being bumped forward a year, but i'm trying to keep successes in mind ➡️

Feeling pretty futile as a game designer lately. Not sure if I am still burnt out after PAX or just that the end of the year is approaching and I don't have anything physical to show for it (which I know is not really true). Long days at my day job not helping either. Send hugs.

Pretty disappointed in the Australian Aboriginal voice to parliament referendum results so far. That it looks like not even one of the major states is going to result with a yes majority is pretty disheartening. I thought we as a nation had come further than this.

PAX Aus is rapidly approaching and as usual I feel as though I don't have enough hours in the day to get everything done. Any tips to help focus and power through the next 3 weeks?

For anyone who is up during Australian evenings, I run digital playtesting in the Incubator [ONLINE] discord every second Wednesday starting 7.30pm (AEST / GMT+10) the next session is tomorrow evening :)

To help start our day a friend & I have been doing a 30 minute test each of whatever we are working on. We have both found this incredibly valuable forcing us to test parts of games that we want specific feedback on lock starting our mornings (& for me) getting me out of bed. Highly recommend!

So I haven't really posted on any social media platform in the last ~10 years due to what would probably be considered bullying by my friends at university. I want to try and change that and be involved in this community. So Hi! Nice to meet you :) What do y'all do in the board game space?
