I bullied a barber into cutting my fringe. It was a terrible mistake | Zoe Williams
The face looking back at me in the mirror is familiar - because it is my father’s. The worst part? It’s all my own fault, writes Zoe Williams

Keep picking my phone up even though I'm meant to be sleeping and I honestly thought I was past all this naughtiness.

On my desk at school actually. It was when Ken Barlow was caught having an affair and bare-chested. A friend saw it and started shouting "Ken chest!" and I badly lost my temper.

First stop in Chorley in Booths to get the white asparagus I'm addicted to. That's all I ever buy in there. I think they might have some sort of name for me, "Asparagus" or summat.

Very disappointing breakfast today. Skyr yoghurt, which was shit, with kiwi in it which made it ten times worse. This is the worst thing that has ever happened to me.

Just saw a family of geese and goslings out for the day. Parents teaching goslings how to find worms. Well, the mum was. The dad just stood there looking around.

Hi, Leyland, do you think you could leave some watermelons for someone else? I've been eating them all winter, I'm not a Johnny come lately..

5 days to get myself looking ok to impress John Robb. I don't really want to impress John Robb, but as I'm out at an event, it'd be nice to look vaguely nice. Or presentable. Or not hideous.

Just pulled a hair out of the bath whilst I was within it. To be precise, 8 hairs attached to a body which, as an arachnophobe, was a deeply unpleasant experience.

Could we have a Buzzcocks night in Manchester, much like the Smiths one at The Star and Garter? I would like that.

I would like someone to say something to me that would force me to get out of bed. For some context, I am cat-adjacent, which doesn't help.

Where do real ale snobs go in Manchester? I haven't really paid attention before cos I drink gin due to the dubious veggie status of a lot of beer. From memory, I think The Salutation got the thumbs up previously and Lass O' Gowrie not much...

Still cringe when I occasionally remember I bought Morrissey's mum a bone china trinket dish before I had twigged what bone china was. So if he's wondering what that was doing there....

Awful busker in Preston doing all the Madchester classics. To be fair to him, I went to Spike Island and his version of "I Wanna Be Adored" is spot on.

The people who bang on about not paying the licence fee are the same people who "adore" Gavin and Stacey and watch Mrs Brown's Boys.

Oh, water bill gone up has it? Must be because they deliver such a tremendous service. I believe some parts of the town I'm in have been without water for some days. United Utilities are the best!

Came home the cat way. Stroked 3. One is friendly anyway, one will only come when its sibling is there to show it's safe so I had a two-er there. One cat has never spoken to me before, but came up miaowing today wanting attention. A good cat day.

I'm sure it's another fantastic Brexit bonus, but why is all fruit mouldy the day after you buy it? It's just my routine now, buy the fruit, take it out and throw it in the bin.
