Had a student name C2H3O2 as “Carbonite” in class. Pretty impossible to have a nomenclature lesson after that: “That’s only for SOLO bonds!” “Name it, or name it not, there is no try!” “That’s no MoON, it’s Molybendum, Oxygen, and Nitrogen.”
