Day one. The start of the next adventure!

Got the campsite almost completely to myself tonight, and I'm gonna take full advantage of it!

And tonight draws on the end to this adventure. But a new adventure is just around the corner!

What a day. It would take 15 posts to explain everything that happened in the last 12 hours. Some of it good, some of it bad, but some big changes are coming for me in the next month or so.

My first time not only ever attending, but getting to participate in Calgary pride. Everyone was having such a great time, myself included! 🏳️‍🌈

I always feel like the world's biggest dick when I don't tip the hotel housekeeping staff. Especially when I am checking out. But I could not, for the life of me, find anyone who could break large bills last night. 😕

I got around to displaying some of my fond memories from @calfurry.ca 2025. I can't wait to see everyone again next September!

So it looks like I am going on to 4 day work weeks (Mon-Thur) for the foreseeable future. I'm not going to complain about 3 day weekends for the rest of the summer!

I certainly feel like an idiot. We were walking across a jobsite and I noticed a black fox wandering across, about 50 feet away. I made a comment but didn't think anything of it... Then I goggled it after... Apparently they are VERY rare, and I didn't even think to take a picture. 🤦

So this just started to show up on my timeline. A devastating loss to the community. I know Spottacus will be remembered fondly by many. I only had the pleasure of meeting him once briefly at Pawcon. 😿 Rest In Peace

God damnit! I should have known there was a reason that my bank started offering such a great return on my credit card reward points. When they increased the return percentage they halved the points value. I went to cash them out tonight and realized I was only getting $1700 back instead of $3400 😡

So I was lifting a server room tile and I slipped my hand under it to grab hold just as the tool failed and brought it all crashing down on my fingers. I walked it off, but moving into the evening my one finger is starting to show bruising. I hope I didn't fracture it. 😕

Well since I am officially back on my old rotation and home on weekends again I am thinking I should see if anyone feels like grabbing some Sushi in Edmonton this weekend. I am thinking Saturday.

Finally managed to get a good night's sleep! I think I am going to move back to a chain hotel for the rest of the summer. The last two stays at this ma & pa motel has been a bit of a let down. Some of it has been uncontrollable by the motel, but some of it has been of their own doing. 🫤

So I stopped in at this little shop called Cobblerworld in Pittsburgh. I gotta admit, the price was a little steep, but worth every penny for the absolutely gem working there. I am not sure I have ever met someone who was so excited to welcome people into her shop. 💖

So @bcbreakaway.bsky.social stopped by my house and the verdict is in. I caught the water in time! The moisture didn't reach the exterior walls or family room. There was a very slight amount in dampness in the corner of the guest room which has a fan on it now. The cleanup will be a full day though.

What a way to start my trip to Anthrocon. I was about to leave and I hear water running. I go down to find water puking out of a pipe. Managed to get the water off, lift most of the tiles, vacuum most of the water up, set up fans and a dehumidifier, and get to the airport 5 minutes before cut off. 🫤

So the guy I hate (who's already on layoff notice) just short circuited the ESD system and evacuated the entire plant. Then him and the other guy left the site without telling anyone what they did. I think a couple of somebodies better pack their tools and plan for an extra EXTRA long weekend. 🤣

With only 2 more working days until I leave for Anthrocon, I am starting to finally see the light at the end of the tunnel! So who am I gonna get to see there this year??

Safety guy appears to have set up shop just below me.... Gonna be a long morning 😭

I am playing adult hide and seek with the safety guy this morning. I'm stuck hiding in the ceiling til he leaves, because he sees me without a harness on I am gonna hear about it come Monday.

I never claimed to be the smartest cat, but I fail to see how getting me home 8 hours late due to a maintenance issue is considered "an uncontrollable delay of less than 3 hours."

Ugh, I've got the itch to go hang out in VR Chat tonight, but usually when I log in none of my friends are around. I probably should take the evening and get back into the gym instead. 😢

Wow, its amazing what a difference 8 hours of sleep can make... Well 8 hours sleep AND finding out the guy you despise just got his layoff notice.

So I was supposed to get home at 3:30 yesterday and have enough time to get to the hotel and get a good night's sleep... I wound up landing at midnight running on 45 minutes sleep, packing, and driving 3½ hours straight to work, guzzling coffee the whole way. I am so tired it's not even funny.

Ohhh it's gonna be a day.... A looooong day. 😭

So for the first time in 30 years my friends have convinced me to try roller coasters.... I'm terrified. 😢 We will see how confident I am feeling after the first one, I'll probably be crying on a park bench.

I wonder what it would be like to be an urbanite. Shirts and ties, starting work at 9am, coffee in a snooty little coffee shop, a one hour lunch breaks in a quaint downtown restaurant, evening jog through the neighbourhood. *looks at his life choices up to now* .... Shit.

I have to admit, Megaplex was never really on my radar, but with them as well as Calfurry potentially both being in close proximity or even overlapping in future I am wondering if I should look into potentially attending this year. Just in case the chance isn't there in future. 🤔

First night back in the gym after a couple of sick nights.... Please... Somebody just shoot me now! It should be pretty easy because I am not even sure if I can walk anymore!

I haven't been feeling great lately. Initially I thought my allergies were starting to flare up again for the first time in years, but as this seems to progress, I am starting to suspect I am suffering from a head cold. It would explain the fatigue and general malaise.

Oh just friggin dandy.... My credit card got compromised and someone ran up $700+ worth of transactions in the states while I was at the con last weekend 😡
