From the archives - Nymphaea daubenyana, a tropical waterlily at Oxford Botanic Gardens. It first appeared in the mid 19th century under the stewardship of Professor Daubeny, hence the name. It’s not known whether the hybrid was deliberate or a happy accident. It still grows there today.

A friend described this morning’s sunrise as a fire opal.
