Rereading The Two Towers as one does and truly Gollum’s funniest moment is him looking at Sam and Frodo like “you wanna go to Mordor ain’t no reason for me to be in it?”

Collective grief is real. I stayed up for days when Philando Castile was killed by police in front of his girlfriend and their child. Alton Sterling was killed in Baton Rouge the same day... for selling CDs. I played Donny Hathaway's "Je Vous Aime" on loop the entire time. Crawled inside the music.

Hi everyone -- there is a general strike in Minnesota tomorrow to protest what the Trump administration and DHS are doing to our community. In solidarity with the action, I am going to donate my revenue from tmrw's newsletter to People over Papers, the Midway-Hamline Diaper Bank, & Every Meal. (1/2)

It’s hard to know if people outside MN understand how much of life is grinding to a halt here because of Trump’s occupation. Schools have shut down, businesses are scaling back hours or closing because their employees aren’t safe. The whole city is weighted down.

The Skatepark of Baltimore in Hampden is still, blessedly and beautifully free, both in terms of cost and the lack of heavy-handed oversight (pads are recommended, for instance, but not required).

So one of the things pll should be taught in grad school is that if you see the same supposition or phrase repeated in every publication on a topic, see if you can track it back to an antiquarian. Bc, more often than not, those guys were full of shit. Don't get caught out by the Chortlemuffin Effect

My grandma lost two siblings last year and her best friend just passed this morning. I have no idea what gift/expression of sympathy to offer. Is there anything that actually brings folks comfort as aging naturally brings new and more frequent waves of loss and grief? My heart is hurting for her 😔

The intent here is to continue reshaping any global expectation that the US will be reliable, responsible, or even feign pretense of diplomacy so that the US is isolated, removed from all global accountable structures, and under militarized government control.

I’d hoped to have the energy to do a whole year in review thread with the art/media I enjoyed and the things I made this year. I do not. But I will take a moment to say, “Thank You,” to those continuing to create in a world making it more difficult each day and to those who engage and support. 💜
