Following the latest government Spending Review, I’m delighted @TfL is ordering a £50 million new fleet of trams for its south London network running through Croydon. This new fleet will come with a range of upgrades, improving travel for residents throughout the borough.

Labour's Industry Strategy will support 1.1 million new, well-paid jobs over the next decade.

1/ This World Refugee Week, I wanted to pay tribute to some of the amazing organisations in my constituency, including the Croydon Refugee Day Centre and Young Roots.

1/ 🚨 570,000 more families in London will receive £150 off their energy bills next winter, including in Croydon West. Labour is today extending the Warm Home Discount to protect more low-income households and pensioners across the country.

This winter over 75% of pensioners in England and Wales – around 9 million – will receive Winter Fuel Payments to help with energy costs.

1/ 🗞️ I’ve penned a piece for The Mirror on the launch of a new government trial for over 600 pubs, hotels, restaurants and cafes. They’ll receive free advice on how they can become more efficient and cut their energy bills, as part of the government’s Plan for Change.

1/ *Restoring the Lanfranc Memorial Garden* On 9th August 1961, a tragic air crash claimed the lives of 34 pupils and two teachers from Archbishop Lanfranc Academy. A Memorial Garden was created in their honour at Croydon Cemetery - but it now urgently needs restoration.

*Investment for Croydon GPs* 1/ Three surgeries in Croydon West are benefiting from Labour’s investment in the NHS. The gov is investing £100 million in the NHS to deliver millions more GP appointments.

Labour made a commitment to restore control over our immigration system, and we are delivering on that promise. With this plan, we will bring down net migration while boosting skills and training in the UK. The Labour government is creating a migration system that is controlled and fair.

1/ In 2017, I launched a campaign to tackle the high cost of school uniforms. I acted after a constituent came to one of my first surgeries as a new MP - to tell me about the huge cost of uniforms at his children’s school. I worked with the children’s society to campaign for change.

For years, the price you pay for prescriptions has gone up. This Labour government is freezing them to help ease the cost of living.

As part of Labour’s Plan for Change, we are investing £300 million to jumpstart clean energy supply chains, create new jobs, and power up Britain using homegrown offshore wind.

1/ This Labour Government’s new neighbourhood policing guarantee will bring back that local, visible policing that people in Croydon and every community deserve.

Free breakfast clubs have now launched in 750 primary schools across the country. This means children can start the day ready to learn, with parents saving up to £450 a year and getting 30 minutes of free childcare each morning. With our Plan for Change, children will enjoy the best start in life

1/ From 14th May, police officers who fail a vetting check will face automatic dismissal. Through our Plan for Change, Labour is restoring confidence in policing by making sure only officers of the highest standards are allowed to serve our communities to help keep us safe.

Every weekend we are out talking to people, elections or no elections. This time it was about the fabulous South Norwood Country park and how we need the visitor centre back open and the end to sewage leaks!! Everyone keen to sign an open letter. Such glorious weather!

Every time I visit the BRIT School, I’m reminded of what a special place it is. Last week was no different—I met incredible students, saw the passion of their teachers, and heard about the amazing work they do.

Starting today, 8,200 people in Croydon will see a pay boost as part of Labour’s Plan for Change, with the biggest ever increase to the National Minimum and Living Wage. 💷

As the minister responsible for construction, I’m delighted that Labour is investing over £600 million to train up to 60,000 more construction workers, ensuring we have the skilled workforce needed to deliver 1.5 million new homes across the UK and rebuild our roads, rail, and energy infrastructure.

1/ Yesterday’s Hydrogen Delivery Council was a wonderful opportunity to showcase not only how far we have come in developing the UK hydrogen energy sector, but also to look to the bright future of the industry.

📉 Waiting lists have fallen for 5 months in a row, in Croydon and across the country. This is the difference Labour in power makes.

The Labour government’s publicly-owned energy company, GB Energy, is rolling out solar panels on over 400 schools and NHS sites across England—helping save hundreds of millions on energy bills!💡 Schools could save up to £25,000 a year, and NHS sites could save up to £45,000! 🏥
