Bleargh. This week is making me frustrated. Leak in an exterior faucet. Problem with a gutter. Issue with thermostat. I’m not handy, but I’m also not employed, so I don’t want to pay someone to do all this.

My friend Christie is finishing IMTUF right now: 100 miles, 20,000+ feet of gain. Extremely technical. Remote Idaho. This is a PhD level race. Christie is 50, with a full time job, kids, and has a husband with a full time job. You have time to do what you want to do.

Good thing about my race yesterday: it’s a low key trail fest, so I wasn’t given a DNF. They just dropped me to the 50k and called me a finisher. This year’s races: Gorge Waterfalls 50k Tiger Claw Ascent and 50k Oregon 200 (canceled at 149.7) Ultrafest 50k Good enough.

If someone is going to bribe me, the money should not be wrapped in food. Have some class. Stack it neatly in a Hermès bag.

One of my favorite performances of Robert Redford was in Captain America , Winter Soldier. Let’s be honest, comic book movies are bad on purpose, and it was silly he was even there. But he committed to that role, and NAILED it in way that was almost distractingly good. And very, very funny.

My “Avocado Toast” fund - funded from small regular expenses I used to have that I didn’t use or need - is now up to $3,400 after nearly 18 months. And it is paying $136/yr in tax free income. Saving is not hard if you review your expenses routinely and cut out things you don’t actually use.

I am saddened but not surprised that Joyline Chepngeno has been banned for doping. Her coach has a history of doped athletes. She came out of nowhere to win some of the most competitive races there are. It goes to show that when it comes to elite athletics, WINNING is almost evidence of cheating.
