We're so inspired by the commitment shown by the women in cohort 2 at HMP East Sutton Park who all have 100% attendance so far for their one to ones! Working in the women's estate is still fairly new to us as at Spark Inside, but our team are truly rising to the occasion.

Over the past 12 months, we have delivered nearly 900 one-to-one coaching sessions! Each conversation, whether it's with young people in prison, through the gate, or with prison staff, has represented a step toward unlocking potential in the justice system so that rehabilitation is possible.

We ran our third Hero's Journey programme for teens at Oasis Restore Secure School! Participants shared:​ 💬 “Lanre and Milca were supportive and made me feel comfortable to share” When children in custody are given tools, they begin to see, and believe in, a different future.

With a warm welcome from prison staff, our incredible Service Delivery Manager, Sophie, and powerhouse Coach, Lilian, launched Spark Inside’s very first one-to-one coaching programme for young women at HMP East Sutton Park last year – and the impact has been game-changing!

Recently, we were welcomed by Maria Marina to give them an insight into the power of the Hero’s Journey, so they can see first-hand the impact of our coaching programme. The team told us it was a transformative experience & they had a greater understanding of the impact the programme has in prison.

Team Days are really important to us! Yes, it's a great opportunity to step away and have some fun, which is of course important given we spend so much of our lives at work. But being intentional about building connection is a key part of what we see as creating a coaching culture at Spark Inside.

Last week Spark Inside coaches and our Chair of Trustees attended Deep Democracy Training 🧠 We use Deep Democracy within The Conversation, our systems coaching programme for large groups of people who live and work in prison to support positive cultural change on prison wings.

Five years ago, we started coaching prison staff... Since then, our life coaches have delivered over 500 sessions, giving prison staff a space to reflect and develop tools to manage stress, build resilience, and improve their own wellbeing, and in turn, that of people in their care!

After an extensive build up with Oasis Restore & CNWL, we ran our first HJ during Oct half term! Following group workshops & 1:1 coaching sessions, the children told us the programme was "profound" & "they really enjoyed it." We're looking forward to the next group in Feb 👏
