Honestly, the best way to make an artist’s day is by being very specific about what you like about a piece. Geek out a lil. Gush over how they use line, color, texture. Every mark is layed down by the artist, so if you can connect with those little moments, it helps the artist feel seen.

It's never too late to pick up a pencil and start to draw, we all start somewhere. We live in an age where there's a wealth of knowledge to learn from, art is more accessible than it has ever been before. AI slop didn't bring any accessibility- because it only mimics art, never the soul. 6/7

the art piece where I drew the lens flare by hand garnered a lot of attention after I mentioned the fact and shows that people care and love the process, and can make a piece even better. Yes, even a shitpost, brainrot, photoshop bashing homunculus done by a human has MORE meaning 5/7

AI "art", no matter how good it looks, goes against the very idea of art. Art's meaning comes from the process, the thought, the emotion an artist put in, AI slop lacks this, and it can replicate it, but never reach it (as I like to call it, a "Art Soul Asymptote") People also see this- 4/7

-a sense of achievement in putting in work and seeing results. I derive my joy of drawing from the process, not the finished piece. A finished piece is definitely joyous, but knowing that I made it, put in the effort, and learned new shit to make it happen is- the process- is my main enjoyment 3/7

I firmly believe anyone can draw and make great art, it'll take time, sweat and tears but you will get there, i know you will, don't give up because you "suck", you will fail and fail until you do well. "but it's time consuming/takes a lot of effort" And? there's joy in creating and- 2/7

"ai makes art accessible" is an argument i hate to my fucking bones. Art is EASILY accessible, I'd argue it's the cheapest most accessible hobby because all you need is a pen and paper. "yeah but not everyone has skills" no everyone has the skill, you just need to put in the work 1/7 🧵
