We always think of so much of old stuff as being pre-baked to save compute, but "assemble it on the fly" saves so much space. I'm reminded of how the Amiga does its "insert disk" animation as vectors rather than a pre-made animation.

Most people know the PS1 boot sound, but I'm not sure as many know that the sound is not actually pre-recorded but just 3 simple samples being mixed, playback at different speeds and generated at runtime to produced the final output.

As a kid I asked my parents for Super Probotector (Contra 3 in Europe) and they got me Sim City (SNES) for xmas. I was disappointed and it took me a long time to understand that actually it was a much better game for my type of personality and I still enjoy playing it today.

I’m 10h in Metroid Prime 4 and I’m enjoying it, however it tries (so far) to be almost 3 different games, and the balance-glue is not quite there, but that means MP5 could be pretty good once they iterate over feedback. But I dig it, it’s good.

Was going through my kickstarter backed projects and some creators just go years without even updating their fanbase on progress, crazy. Have this one proj from 2014! which has a post excuse ever couple years. Big reason why I mostly stopped using KS, a lot of bait and run.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake DEMO on Switch 2 looks & plays really well, not just "good enough for a handheld", a good port on par with the one I played on PS4 at least. Players will likely be using this as a reference from now one for other ports "well if FF did it". Curious for Resident Evil Requiem now

My conspiracy theory is operative systems getting slower, hardware manufacturers pricing out consumer market/killing it completely; I think they want to remove alternatives for offline computing power. We would have no choice but subscribe to “cloud processing” on terminals with barely any power.

I realized the main reason I have so much friction with C# is because most codebases are in CamelCase and snake_case is so much more readable and visually *elegant* for me. Also not many use _ for member variables which doesn’t help. The language itself is .fine.
