Earlier today, someone acting in the role of an expert at the time said intersectionality isn't about anti-oppression and it's been bothering me ever sense. For the record, so I can sleep, I need to say somewhere that the literal reason Crenshaw coined intersectionality was for anti-oppression.

Oh no, I just found a quarter size patch of psoriasis on my left ankle (only noticed because of that sharp sting feeling when my pants brushed it). It's been a couple years since the last time I had a flare up, so I guess I'm due. Probably stress triggered? Last ankle flare up lasted for years 🙃

I started the weekend with 4 things I definitely needed to get done ASAP, I did like 8 things, and ended the weekend still with 4 things on my list that I need to get done ASAP for unuversity work and research 😭 And that's not even discussing house buying stuff.

I was just reflecting on a double bind I (and many marginalized folks) run into regularly. If I respond to bigotry politely or concisely factual, I am framed as dismissive. If I respond to bigotry passionately or expansively factual, I am framed as emotional &/or defensive. Classic double bind.

My 15 year old just came and told me he is feeling sick, then sneezed directly on me 3 times in a row 🤧😫 He is running a fever, so we are doing a flu and covid test. And if I wasn't gonna get what he had before, I definitely am now 😅🙃 They joys of parenting.

Yesterday we went and saw some houses in the Denver metro and today we put an offer in on a hopeful forever home. It has enough conforming bedrooms for everyone currently, and us to look at adopting a sibling group duo and them having their own rooms. I'm very excited and nervous.

"I'll be kind to trans people but I won't accept it." Disrespectfully, that's not actually your choice or not. You have a choice of being a bigot or not, but not of "accepting" someone or not. Trans people are trans, the only person who gets to choose to accept that or not is the trans person.

Prove it. Provide a definition of male or female that includes me and about 5 million others in this country, tens of millions world wide. I dare you.

Trans kids and their families deserve safe places to live free from discrimination and with access to medically necessary care. I moved my family across multiple states, from Iowa to Colorado, last summer to get to a safer state. But even in "safe" states like Colorado, I see warning signs.

In my master programs, a supervisor asked me why I had not put a gender down for a grandparent that a client knew nothing about. I said because we don't know their gender. The supervisor said to me (whose children have a Dad and a Pop) that, "in my opinion is everyone has a mom and a dad."

Oddly, as a psychotherapist, I have yet to have a kid in my office as the result of a film having "gay elements" in it. Meanwhile, your kid will still see my husband and I picking out clementines at King Soopers, so they will be exposed to the existence of gay elements one way or another.

Had to call TIAA to get into my retirement account today. Person kept calling me Miss after seeing my name. I corrected them twice. They ignored it, kept calling me Miss. My voice is 100-140 hz (well below fem tones), but I do sound gay 😘 Trying to decide if this was transphobia or homophobia 🙃
